I was playing Tron last night and got to SoS with all the ladder lit solid except for the discs. I cleared out all the disc shots except for the right orbit which for me is pretty tough shot. I got the ball up to near the right corner twice after the ball was in the pops a little but could never register a nice shot.
Wouldn't you know it that an accidental GEM shot came down through the pops and drained. 
That was by far the furthest progression I've made. It is usually GEM that keeps me from progressing and the fact that most of the ladder was solid before I hit SoS is a near miracle for my skill.
