I was looking at a Pat Hand ad recently, and it got me musing. In the 40s-50s, there were a lot of pins themed on travel. In the 50s-early 60s, there were a TON of machines that featured some form of poker or playing cards, and the western theme ruled the range. The 60s saw avant garde art styles (pointy people). We can see streaks of bowling themes, pool table themes. Generally reflecting the times. We won't see non-licensed ideas, but what themes do you think would have be used if the same "reflection of the times" were used instead? That switch happened, what, in the 90s, right?
