Also, while it looks like the batteries have been changed at some point, it's highly recommended to remove the batteries and install an NVRAM chip instead. (The batteries are there for memory--high scores, settings, etc)... Batteries can leak, we see it all the time here. In fact, post a couple clear, close pics of the region on the board below the battery pack--it's important to verify there hasn't been any leakage yet.
There's tons of great techs here...if you're ready to dive into this thing, I'm sure you'll be able to get this going. Do you have experience soldering?
