I’ll also note that sometimes a broken wire might not be on that exact switch but on another switch in the same column or row, even though that other switch is working. So, it can’t hurt to take a quick look at the others.

Yeah, likely a broken wire somewhere along that column. Some switches may be working while others may not, depending upon where the wire broke. And, remember, it is possible for the wire to have broken on a switch that is still working but cause problems for other switches.
