    Skirts (resized).jpeg

One of the pop bumpers on my LW3 has a small chunk missing on the skirt. So I bought three replacements and figured I would do them all at the same time. The skirts aren't expensive, but the ones I got seem to have this extra little tab of plastic that sure doesn't look like it belongs.

I attached a picture of them. Is there some purpose for this tab? It's not terribly rigid and could likely be fairly easily shaved off. I'm just wondering why it was left like that in the first place. Is there some reason for it to be there? Or just leftover from the manufacturing? I would think if it isn't needed it would be better for the manufacturing process to just not have it there at all.

    Thanks.

Yes, the tab goes towards the top of the playfield so a slow ball cant get stuck on top..

On older pops those pointed towards the top of the playfield. It was to prevent stuck balls if the pop wasn't sensitive enough or not working.

    Gottlieb used these.

Beautiful guys, thanks. Really great to hear the explanation. I can think of a couple times I've had a ball just nestle itself on the topside of a pop bumper and sit there until you shake the machine enough for it to come down. I'm relieved I don't need to try and shave these tabs off. Cheers!!

    Yup, those are Gottlieb skirts.

Yea, they say Gottlieb right on them. But my machine is a Data East Lethal Weapon 3. Should I put these off to the side and reorder ones from someone that has them without the little tab?

These Gottlieb skirts are fine to use on any machine.
