    My experience has been that new 44 and 47 bulbs are much more fragile than the ones being made 40 years ago. A few good thumps and the filament breaks. I've changed to LEDs in all my pop bumpers, and usually I change the socket to accept a wedge type bulb as well. The bayonet sockets are just too flaky for me.
