Quoted from BJM-Maxx:

So, I did your trick and unbraided the harnesses from the back box down to the playfield. Then I bundled the strobe and return lines separately on their own. It seems to have helped.

I need to do this, which two wires should be separated? Can you show pics?

Quoted from Pinwiz1985:

You can take off all the zip ties holding the harness together to unbraid everything UP TO THE STRAIN RELIEF COLLAR ON THE PF. From there the wires are bundled together on the PF, and there isn't much you can do to separate them on there. Your best bet is to run separate wires for the flippers up to the flipper enable relay. You can add ferrite collars to the power wires off the PF with one or two turns (so as not to take up too much slack which you need) to cut down on the RFI propagating back to the boards. Best effort is to minimize the phantom pops, not eliminate them. bad design.
I will be making videos and pictures in the next week or two once my restored PF comes back from HSA.

Does anyone know what is special about early Bally that this doesn't happen on my early Williams games? Aren't there braids like this in all games?

Quoted from Milton187:

I was having this problem on an Embryon.
vid1900 posted a video on bad diodes in the switch matrix. The video shows that the bad diode does not have to be in the pop bumper but any where in the square or rectangle of the matrix. If you need more clarification search for my thread. There was a bad diode on the "saucer" switch. Replacing this diode solved the Phantom pops. I did not read the whole post so if this was brought up before disregard.

can you please link your thread on this? sounds like good information.

Quoted from vid1900:

I cut the old zip ties and put a few loose new ones so that the harness keeps its shape. I don't want the harness tight and holding dirt in the bundles.

WOW great advice right there.
Here's my plan for my sorcerer harness:
