"Game powers up no problem, just can’t start an actual game."
By start you mean it never kicks a ball into play? and if by lock the coils, you mean it pulls them down towards the playfield forever, then your driver transistor/mosfet must be dead. Try disconnecting them and running the game. If they are fully triggered, they are pulling ALL power. Do they not have fuses?
