Looking for tips on making replacement plastics.
I've had reasonably good results by the following:
- rough cut a piece of polycarbonate
- scan broken plastic
- touch up / complete artwork in paint.net and mirror the image
- laser print image to clear adhesive decal
- spray white primer onto printed face of adhesive decal
- apply decal to polycarbonate
- use sander, grinder, etc for final shaping of plastic
The results have been 'pretty good' and will do in a pinch. But when you examine the plastics closely, you'll see irregularities in the adhesive attaching to the polycarbonate...maybe they're bubbles, not sure...but small discolorizations. I applied the decals, trying best to squeeze out & prevent bubbles...but something still shows.
Anyone have a better method? Is there a better clear glue? Would water slides work better than adhesive decals?
