Hey OP. I share your love for the Valley "bar box". I have a Valley ZD-8 7' coin-op pool table that I bought from a gentleman off of eBay right here:
ebay.com link: usr
He was super awesome to deal with and felt work was TOP notch. Plus, for $1/mile (1-way) he delivered it to my home for me. That was SUPER nice and convenient!!
It is a solid 1-piece slate at 0.25" thick. Slate alone is prolly 300 lbs and the rest of the table I'd guess is 350 lbs or so (with each leg weighing 25 to 30 lbs a piece) for about a total of 725 to 750 lbs.
We did move it to a basement first, and I hired Absolute Billiard Service in Dayton, OH. Thankfully, we JUST happened to live in Dayton, and they did all the work, and trust me, that did NOT look fun. They did the slate first along with the legs, and then they did the whole table - 1 piece - all the way down. Two guys did it, which was insanely impressive. I also hired them to bring it back up when I had to move due to the military "saying so".
Now, the table sits in the main dining area of our home, which is located almost right outside of Eglin AFB. I have to move again come February 2021, but thankfully there's plenty of space and NO stairs - just a straight shot to the front door.
Don't be surprised if you can't get a company to come move it into or out of your home. I noticed a fair amount of hesitation with every company I even brought the notion to except Absolute Billiards. I was very lucky to have their service. Cost was around $450 each time, and that is price of what...a Stern TOPPER...to keep your back safe?
Honestly, you may just need to find 5-6 suckers, er friends, entice them with a couple 12 packs of beer and pizza or take everyone to Chick-Fil-A and tell them "It's going to suck, but drinks are all on me." or "It's CFA time!!!"
I know I'd help out if CFA was offered to me (along with 4 or 5 others guaranteed to help).
Good luck, man. Nothing like hearing the "spider gully system" directing the billiard balls to the acrylic window.
