Sooooo. I bought a house and remodeled it over the last couple years. Now i'm working on the pool. It was ok to start with but i wanted it be be really cool.

    #2 6 years ago

Here's the before pictures. I wanted to expand the deep end and add some rock features. The deep end is only like 6 feet right now.

If you could put a floating pinball/arcade station in the center now that would be something. . .

    #6 6 years ago

So i hired a pool company to create a design. This is what i got. Crazy amount of plants and piles of rocks. NOT what I had in mind, there's no style.

Another view. I get that they used a program to quickly lay this out but its just not doing it for me.

    LOL, fantastic idea.

They also gave me a horrendously huge estimate to build the expansion.

    #10 6 years ago

Fast forward a bit. I start doing a bunch of research and gathering pix and ideas.

I agree. Not digging the rocks/edging that completely encircle the pool. Makes if feel confining.

Your starting point definitely has potential though.

That's because they were using the Donkey Kong pool design software.

This will not be the Ford Escort of pool remodels

Please tell me the long yellow strip from the bridge to the pool is a giant slip n'slide

    #17 6 years ago

You should contact Blimpey and see who he used for his pool. He has like a playboy "Grotto" and a pirate ship! I think the artificial rock wall would look better than a bunch of boulders.

    #18 6 years ago

That pool coping is UGLY. I like the stone but it should be flush with the deck. You have to stub you toe all around the pool? Also why is it so narrow almost looks like a fiber glass pool.

The Donkey Kong compraison made me spit my cereal all over my screen. I kept thinking that in looked familiar, lol

It is actually an improvment over their old software that was based on Contra, so...

Can you extend a pool and not have leaks at the joint? Or do you build an entire new pool. Never heard or seen a pool "extension"

    #25 6 years ago

I went through this two years ago. Did not modify the shell as the expense was outrageous. At the end of the day, the pool remodel & backyard renovation was just as expensive as a new pool would have been. Demo'ing the existing pool was crazy expensive as well. Here is a time-lapse video if interested:

Then the framework gets tied back in on the bottom.

Steel frames go up for the benches and cave.

Plumbing goes in for waterfalls, slide and drain.

Electrical goes in for lights and pumps, filters.
