I can't really claim this idea since I stole it from vid but pool noodles make excellent "head bumpers" as my wife calls them.
This is how vid uses them:

Makes an excellent pad for the head and right now they are on sale for a dollar or less. One will handle two machines and they should last virtually forever.
They sell these noodles at the dollar store, for a buck a piece obviously. We just throw ours away at the end of the season and buy 10 new ones each spring.

These are cool ideas, but this was my take as well. Even if high end pool noodles existed, given the function here just go to the dollar store! How much more on sale do you want?
I respectfully suggest changing the thread title to something along the lines of: Pool noodles, the best thing that's probably missing from your current pinball tool collection!

A dollar tree in my area carries a boatload of pool noodles--but they are seasonal. You might want to check your local dollar stores first before resorting to walmart/target or other big box stores.
