Hi everyone! Im super stoked to get my game! JjP has done an amazing job creating a world under glass. However, i have lots of concern with the issues i have seen/ heard regarding playfield quality.
Im hoping to get a guage on how widespread these issues are by taking a poll from actual gnr owners that have the game in their posession.

Please do not participate in the poll if you dont have a game in your posession, and please be truthful in your response.
If you would like to elaborate on your experience, good or bad, regarding the GNR playfields...feel free to comment below.

Thanks so much for your input!

#2 3 years ago

Following this. Got an LE on order but that could very well change.

#3 3 years ago

Early voting to show about half have issues already...

Maaaaannnn... I wanna buy this game but I don't want to spend so much money to get an inferior playfield..........

I voted and don’t have the game yet, shows you how accurate this poll is. You should go by peoples comments in the thread not an easily manipulated poll.

Yeah, this poll is worthless without pictures to back up your claim.

Following too; considering LE

Have a CE paid for ... not backing out of my order, but this is concerning. Following.

Thanks for being a part of the survey, your cool.

The op is doing his best to work out how many games have issues. I am interested on this as are many others. Thanks for showing us that there are plenty of people on here that want to blow the issue out way bigger than it really is.

#10 3 years ago

Yea pics would be a bonus. Good idea.

Post a picture, posting and lying is a little harder because you put a bit of your reputation on the line (as little as that may be worth)

The op needs to add an option that I don't have a game so u can see the results

Played G&R LE on Saturday... checked the game over closely ... Beautiful game with no flaws, quite the impressive effort from JJP

I find it interesting that 12 people voted that have chipping artwork and I saw maybe 3-4 pictures on all of pinside with chipping artwork. Find it hard to believe you can vote, surf, post, but don't have time to post a picture.

No no no don’t you see this is scientific. Look at all the downvotes I got for suggesting otherwise. I bet those are the same trolls they are fudging the poll.

Good g-d, are they capable of EVER releasing something that doesn’t trigger buyer’s anxiety for one reason or another!?!

I know pins are a hand-made special animal and some variation is to be expected, but it’s damn ridiculous that this issue only became a big deal 100+ years after the advent of pinball and is STILL apparently unresolved. Spending $10k on a toy SHOULD NOT be a gamble on any level at all! Imagine the outrage if Focal or Sonus Faber were shipping $10k speakers with delaminating wood veneers, off-center driver surrounds, or loose binding posts (or if Tele-Vue were shipping $10k telescopes with fingerprints on the internal optics or slop in the focusing mechanism.)

(Sorry for the (mildly) drunken rant, but I for one am sick and tired of hearing the “pinball is different” excuses and the resultant constant need to lower expectations! Give me a f***in’ break, man!)

#23 3 years ago

Having known about these issues for years, why hasn't this been fixed by now?

#24 3 years ago

Is Mirco still making playfields for JJP ?

#25 3 years ago
Quoted from Thermionic:

While that certainly applies to other areas of modern pinball (eg, assembly, wiring, soldering for playfield switches, etc), the portion of the playfield related to recent issues isn’t hand made (digital printed art and clear coat sprayed by a robot) and therefore most manufacturers can’t use the hand-made uniqueness excuse any more.

I have been lucky so far my SE playfield seems fine so far.

Yeah, I would say if you vote chipping or pooling, pictures are required to keep tabs.

#33 3 years ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

So you own one?

No, but I really WANTED to!

I had extremely high hopes based upon the hype and was ecstatic when it was revealed and seemed to be even better in every way than I’d hoped, but the ongoing failure to fix this issue (they’ve had a couple of years to do so) utterly deflates all excitement (at least for me). $10k is a nontrivial expense, and I work way too hard to “settle” and accept the gamble that my brand-new game may (or may not) emerge from the box in less than “mint” condition!

I have about decided to use the GnR budget on a HW or possibly Houdini plus a nice older game; perceived lower risk of disappointment and twice the pinball action seems like a better deal to me at this point.

My LE started out fine, I had posted all sorts of pictures as I installed the black mirror blades.
My playfield chipped this weekend and the record dropped. I’m waiting to hear back before I lift the playfield to repair the record, I want to be careful not to scratch the blades and try to fix both issues at the same time.

Very slight, so little that I wasn’t concerned and it has only started to appear in the past week.

Seems like the way to fix this is hold the supplier to the fire. Make them pay for the expense to replace ALL defective playfields with a new populated playfield. Maybe they’ll realize how important this part is and get it right going forward. In fact, I would make that part of the contract with any playfield supplier. If you supply defective playfields you will pay for the expense to replace it with a populated playfield. This idea that the customer can replace their own blank playfield is crazy. It’s enough of a stretch to think a customer can swap a populated one. This hobby/industry lives in la la land. Removing this game from my wish list, its a hot mess.

#47 3 years ago

How do u do that? I mean hell, u cant even get any kind of response from these guys right now regarding a fix or even a timeline on arrival of new games.

#48 3 years ago

Just sux for every buyer and the employees of jjp... eric and team spent so much time, sweat, and effort to make this amazing game only to have shit like this to bring it to where we are now.

I agree, and many of us have spent way too much time saving money for these games to get this defective product. I’d be furious to have a chipping play field. The poll is really starting to make me think of holding off on my LE at this time.

#50 3 years ago

I got rid of a gotg and harlem to fund this... starting to regret it.
