Update 24/3/23:

1st - Gold: Foo Fighters remains king of the hill for the Gold as chosen by you the people, never leaving top spot throughout the poll process.

2nd - Silver: Pulp Fiction has broken the 100 vote mark to be a solid Silver behind FF. Soaring through the ranks up to number two.

3rd - Bronze: Scooby Doo is now being crowned with the Bronze, after a good showing at TPF just today. They even have a full size Mystrey Machine sitting next to all the Scooby Doo pinball machines.

4th - Honorable mention: Godfather has taken another tumble, falling to 4th place out of the top 3 positions of Gold, Silver and Bronze. Becoming an honorable mention along side Galactic Tank Force.

5th - Galactic Tank Force is now in 5th place, tripping from its 4th place position, being just barely surpassed by Godfather. GTF has had a long line of reveals since this poll began and struggling now to get back to 4th place. Its a horse race between GF and GTF for 4th place honorable mention.

6th - Final Resistance holding steady in 6th place, with the new Scott D game recently introduced.

7th - Queen remains in 7th place and has been in this position during the whole voting process.

8th - Spinal Tap batting cleanup and has also been in this position during the voting process.

Who is the early favorite for best topper ? Seems like both Godfather and Pulp Fiction have some killer toppers.

#262 1 year ago

After having played them all, here is how I would rank them:

1st - Pulp Fiction. It is an awesome theme. The assets are some of the best in all of pinball. The call outs are amongst the best ever. The topper is amazing, and will likely win best topper this year.

2nd - Galactic Tank Force. This was a shocker for me. It played FAR better than I thought it would. Along with Beerfest, this was the surprise of the show for me.

3rd - Godfather. It seems to be up in the air with many, but the gameplay simply put me right into the movie. It was fun and surprisingly fast. There are lots of shots and it is drop dead gorgeous. The only reason I didn't put it higher is because I feel it may need some code improvements.

4th - Foo fighters. There really isn't anything "not" to like...but there also isn't anything I loved about it. It isn't innovative, and I just felt like it played similar to other games. I've got a pretty good collection, so I need something that actually stands out.

5th - Scooby Doo. I want to be very clear here; this was a fun game. It just isn't my style. Half the playfield is hidden with the upper playfield and sculpts. I'm not into that.

6th - Queen. One of my favorite bands of all time. I felt like it just wasn't done to the standard I would want. It's a shame JJP didn't make it.

7th - Final Resistance. It just didn't excite me. If it's your thing, go for it. P3s aren't for me.

8th - Spinal Tap. It's got a LONG way to go.

#263 1 year ago

All the recent hype has had me going PF or GTF...PF or GTF...PF or GTF.

But who I'm I kidding...for me, it's PF. For you, it might be something else.

#264 1 year ago

I posted similar in TPF forum but seemed to fit here best so reposting here if it helps someone.

My son and I played every new game I think including: final resistance, foo fighters, galactic tank force, godfather, pulp fiction, queen, Scooby doo

To put our viewpoints in perspective, I work a lot and enjoy pinball as a break/to have fun. Im not a huge fan of complex rule sets. I’m a bottom third of the pack tournament player. My son is pretty good teenage player and top 20% tournament player. He likes deeper rules and consistency in shots.

If could only play 3 again:
Me- pulp fiction, Scooby Doo, Final Resistance.
My son- pulp fiction, foo fighters, queen.

Most underwhelmed by:
Me- galactic tank force
My son- galactic tank force

Most pleasantly surprised by:
Me- final resistance
My son- queen

We wanted to like and just didn’t:
Foo fighters premium (the pro was better in our opinion. Upper playfield drained before flipper 80% of the time and “deadpost” is inconsistent and lose ball)
Godfather

We wanted to like and did:
Scooby Doo

Not sure why people love on:
Galactic space force

Not sure why people hate on:
Scooby Doo

Interesting recaps from TPF, thank you!

Just left MGC and played all the new titles so here’s my thoughts

GTF - cabinet & playfield artwork looks great. Tank and spy drones look super cheap however. Game is slow unless you hit the tank targets then watch out! Super drain monster on the right out lane.

FF - pro definitely has the best flow of the new games. Probably spent the most time on it, but not a fan of the music.

FF - premium, I’m not really into upper playfields so wasn’t my jam.

PF - seemed slow, no ramps so gonna be a pass for me.

Scooby - see above but game was slow and clunky. Not my theme so…..

GF - multi ball mania! Beautiful game but not my theme & not my price range.

Glad i got to play them all, I was in the market to add a game this year but none of these titles will be it!

If you like one of them great, more choices mean more pinball!

Quoted from bkerins:

but if you buy it with Weird Al, that's $15200 for two machines

That you cannot enjoy at the same time. That’s where I’m out. The money makes sense when you have multiple of their games, but you’ll never be able to run a tournament with multiple P3 games.

That's fine. It takes 2 minutes to swap one for another so maybe not use multiples until the finals

So after playing everything I could at MGC....

GTF - really liked it for it's quirkiness. I really did enjoy shooting the tank. Will probably be my next purchase at some point once code has matured. Really like the deluxe model. Like the looks of the tank and the backglass, but don't care for the tank treads. Almost feel that might be preferred to be an 'add on' but... (wife and I both liked)

PF - Glad I got in on an LE on this. Yes, it plays slow like some of the older games it's supposed to be like, but you could raise the level on it to fix some of that. Most of the gameplay does seem centered around that top hole, but really enjoyed it. Just enjoyed the whole package. I'm sure this is mostly a nostalgia trip on a theme I never would have thought would have been made. (wife and I both liked)

FF - (played both pro/prem) - Fast and flowy yes. I liked this game, BUT....we played GZ premium for the first time and interestingly, we both preferred GZ to this by a long ways. The flow between the two in my first impressions mindset are slightly similar. Obviously GZ is a bit more stop and go though. I did prefer the FF pro to the premium. (I liked, wife insta hated it)

Scooby - I really wanted to like this game despite the theme I didn't really care for what little I did play. Maybe it's a 'you have to learn it' game, but didn't really have much opportunity as both I played had issues. One just couldn't plunge the ball far enough to get it into play after the 2nd ball, and the other had a stuck flipper or something. I did get to play enough to get a feel for the game, but not too deep into it. Long ball times, but I was doing a lot of nothing (not the games fault). There were little things that annoyed me like how the ball would just fall off the top pf. I'm not clear on the design choice of the wire frame being bent up away from the rail (probably a reasonably easy adjustment?). The hidden ball returns are something you would definitely have to memorize. (both disliked)

GF - So, interestingly, I think I only managed to get 1 multiball when I played so I can't say it's multiball heavy. I played 2 games and they were long games. I just could not hit anything reliably. Couldn't hear anything, too many lights that I couldn't really tell what I was doing. Another one of those where you kind of have to be able to hear or you are overwhelmed with lit inserts and not knowing what ones you are suppose to hit. I really can't say much about this game as I think I'd need more time on it but didn't grab me enough to wait in line to play it more. I will say there are some return shots that surprise you until you learn the game. (I need more time, she insta hated it).

Was disappointed Multimorphic wasn't there.

Ended up bringing home a GZ, so I guess they all technically lost? I normally do not like Sterns much, we'll see how long this one lasts.

After hearing all the feedback from Texas, the poll results seem so accurate it's almost eerie.

Who’s played Scott Ds new game Final Resistance at TPF? What did you think?
[quoted image]

Not really a fan of the P-3 Platform in general but this is Definitely the BEST Multimorphic Game to date IMHO ❗

so... can this be seen as the final result?

Quoted from Sengaya:

so... can this be seen as the final result?

I would think its final results as of April 12, 2023:

1st - Gold: Foo Fighters remains king of the hill for the Gold as chosen by you the people, never leaving top spot throughout the poll process.
2nd - Silver: Pulp Fiction a solid Silver behind FF. Soaring up through the ranks up to number two.
3rd - Bronze: Scooby Doo crowned with the Bronze.
4th - Honorable mention: Galactic Tank Force is now in 4th place.
5th - Godfather has fallen to 5th place out of the top 4. It began in the silver position, but has been steadily dropping.
6th - Final Resistance holding steady in 6th place, with the new Scott D game recently introduced.
7th - Queen remains in 7th place and has been in this position during the whole voting process.
8th - Spinal Tap batting cleanup, has also been in this position during the voting process.

This was fun, thanks! Let's re-evaluate at next year's twippys! A little help from God and grace of the King that Pulp ships enough units to be eligible.
