Quoted from Zablon:That was my point. I think the 'low end' TZ would start at the highest price point. One would think this stuff should be cheaper now, but it's been proven it isn't.
also what about the rights costs?
Quoted from Charlemagne1987:I'd fork out cash for a Whitewater Remake with all kinds of cool bells and whistles. I'm also curious about the (inevitable, it seems) Cactus Canyon Remake. I'm assuming it will be the "continued" version with code updates and three damsels in distress. Does anyone know any of the details about that particular issue?
continued does not take coins and I think some of the added voice work is ok for free use but not to sold.
Quoted from mbeardsley:Wow, I think just the opposite.
With Stern's poor build quality and JJP's high prices, who would spend money on one of those when they could get an updated version of a Bally/Williams classic machine with superior quality and updated electronics?
Here is an interesting question, though. Would CGC be allowed to remake a B/W game but do a re-theme? There are a few well-loved games that are based on licenses that have not aged well (i.e. Shadow, Congo). Suppose they did a re-theme of these games, using the same layout and rules, but re-doing the artwork and audio. These might do well. Shadow is liked primarily for it's game play, not for it's license.
and if they change the art / sound they also need to fix a few code bugs as well.
Quoted from rwmech5:Insta-buy for Indiana Jones with color dmd playing movie clips if they could ever get licensing together.
the mouse says you must add the 4th and 5th movie
Quoted from Yelobird:As much as we can all wish for titles my guess is the non license titles of TOTAN, CC, and CV are easy low risk High dollar low hanging fruit that would not require any hoops to jump through. Not saying they would appeal to everyone but CGC doesn't need to make 5k of any title. All of the assets in their portfolio would sell well as long as they keep the standards up as they have in the past.
CV may need rom 2.0 + coin play mod
Quoted from mbeardsley:Actually, that kind of thing IS allowed, it just can't be done without the original actor's consent. When I worked on a Mission:Impossible game, we were not allowed to use Tom Cruise's likeness (even though he was peripherally involved in the game), but he did allow us to use a "vague, sort of looks like a generic Tom Cruise-ish" Ethan Hunt.
So, if Harrison Ford said "No, I don't want to be on a pinball machine, but you can use a generic Indiana Jones.", then they could proceed. This is likely what happened with the original machine anyway. Studios are not going to piss-off their prized talent (by using a fake likeness without permission) for a small license opportunity like pinball.
can they force the stunt man to do that or there union going demand more.
Quoted from marioparty34:IMHO TOTAN has issues with it's final wizard mode with the balls not auto plunging. Maybe it's just me, but having a ball just sit in the shooter lane is weird. I don't think it even has the mech to autoplunge. Just curious if CGC has the rights to add mechs and change code?
they have used home roms (coin play on) in Monster Bash.
Quoted from mbeardsley:I was never really a big fan of TOTAN, but that doesn't really surprise me. Several machines have problems with their wizard modes. I've seen TZ get screwy when trying to re-load the gumball after LITZ. And STTNG gets really confused if you have a second Final Frontier in the same game. It's like it loses count of the balls it has on the playfield.
.
At very least be nice to be able to sideload the home roms for a few games if they remake them.
Quoted from zaki:opinion. i don't know much on catcus canyon, but if the code is so bad...who would want a remake? sort of wonder if somebody can make a continued code for the remake of catcus canyon, if it happens. on afm classic, it can be updated with a micro sd card. so...wouldn't it be possible for somebody to make cc continued if they remake the game?
if they are not doing something for the code, sort of hope the next remake is totan then.
maybe if someone can make continued code run on wpc hardware and change the rom file?
