I wonder how they'll handle the code for CC. Can they use CCC? I thought that was either open source or creative commons licensed.
Will be strange to have a 'remake' where the game is pretty different from the original, but I can't imagine they will just sell it with the unfinished code either.

I agree with this but I don't think that means it won't be a successful game release. I think (and hope) they will sell really well.
It's just that when you start by remaking the most wanted game in pinball history, you're not going to be able to sell the same number of units of future games.
Nothing wrong with that. And CGC has done the smart thing and is going down the list in decreasing popularity. So while I think they will likely sell fewer CCr compared to MMr, AFMr, and MBr, I'm sure they'll still sell very well.
There's also the possibility that the new code will just knock it out of the park and this becomes one of the best rated games of all time and it ends up selling even better. I don't know how likely that is, but it could happen.
