Quoted from jawjaw:TAF and IJ would cost too much in licensing. Remake Funhouse. Licensing would be easy and cheap! No need for fancy color display and still WPC. Win, win!
same was said about monster bash monsters license.
Quoted from pinballaddicted:How do you know this?
Because everybody on every forum is an expert in licensing, BOM's, manufacturing costs, shipping costs, running any type of business that they have no experience in, the law, statistics, "facts", what you should be doing with your time or money, other people not being entitled to their own opinion because they are simply missing details that if they had they would definitely see things the other person's way, etc.....

Awesome response! That just made my day. I agree. I have never seen so many experts that know everything about everything to do with pinball . Our hobby is certainly colourful.
I can tell you for sure TAF is not an issue with license (straight from the horses mouth) and I am not 100% sure about IJ. TAF is more about talking PPS and CGC into making a remake. Both of them believe there are plenty of TAF already in the market and a remake would not sell well. IJ is widebody and I do not think either of them are keen to remake a widebody game.
Keep smiling.
Quoted from Dr-pin:Do you honestly think funhouse would sell enough to make it worth their while?
Quoted from pinballaddicted:How do you know this?
Simple. Funhouse rules and I want one!
Quoted from jawjaw:Simple. Funhouse rules and I want one!
Agreed. I would have a hard time turning one down. But I’m not sure they could sell enough of them at 6k without doing a 2.0 version ala BoP.
Quoted from jawjaw:Funhouse
Let's see. Brand new souped up Funhouse. RGB lighting. Big screen display. Speaker lights. Big Rudy topper with jaw flapping bad mouthing you.
I don't think it will happen. It is fun to wish it would.

One of the issues with licensing any brands that have evolved is that sometimes the license holders are reluctant to want to do projects that have 'old' stuff ... they want their 'new' stuff out there, but not products which will dilute or confuse ... so often a challenge when we are looking at licensing parts, merchandise, pinball machines, etc ... that is usually when there are new characters or changes in the story line, etc.

LoL Stupid animated Addams Family movie! Boycott it now

Bring on IJR with Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull modes and art. Pinsiders will love it!

Umm, no.
Quoted from Hammerhead:Umm, no.
Hmmmm.. okay. Well, maybe a slight change to skirt around the asset holders. There's 49 other states to choose from afterall. How does everyone feel about "Kentucky Jones, The Pinball Adventure"? Maybe put Randy Quaid in a fedora in the middle of the backglass and on the playfield art.

You are crushing my hopes as you indirectly may be implying that TAFr isn’t the next game and may be challenging to do in the near future...

I don't think that's what people meant when they said PPS/CGC was crushing it these days.

A couple of years ago (not sure on the time frame) the challenge mentioned by PPS was that the high number of TAF pins produced was a concern in doing a remake of it.
Quoted from donjagra:I will have to sell a kidney!
Please give Pinsiders first shot at it before Ebay or Craigslist.

Maryland Jones and the kingdom of Wichita.
Maine Jones and the ancient Sugarshack.
California Jones and the raiders of the lost rainfall. Bunch of nope.
The more I think about the more I want a Creature reboot. Would love to have updated animations and a hologram that works. It would look great next to MBr.
Quoted from delt31:Of course not. Why would anyone put a nice 90s machine out on location?
probably why I haven't seen a nice TAF then! in my experience they are all shot to shit.
Neil.

Understood. At the end of the day they have to make the best decisions for their company. I’m not sure CCr is it but I certainly can’t say TAFr is either. I just know what I would buy and what I wouldn’t.
Oh well. As a few pinsiders have commented there are so many perfect condition and reasonably priced TAFs out there I should run into a few this afternoon to pick from.
Because Funhouse goes for 2-4K less than those you mentioned. It needs more value added. In my fantasy it would emulate the old software and have a modern-coded version just like BoP 2.0.
Double the Funhouse!

Quoted from lurch:TAFr. Please. Take my money!
I doubt Taf will be 4...hoping 5.Take my money also! either way.
I own TAF and FH. Obviously only time will truly answer my question but If CGC remade these and I sold my originals to obtain them and in 15 years when I retire and sold the pins would the CGC models be:
Worth less than original
Worth the same as original
Worth more than the original
Group thoughts please and thank you.
I think the originals will always be worth more in the long run. But you might put more money into them to keep them working another 10+ years. I have a remake and think it’s the best way to enjoy the original game but every time I see an original on location I pump quarters in her.
I think cgc worth more since most should still be in better condition than originals but perhaps a high end original will be worth the most
Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I would like to see them do something like Varkon.
These have been selling in the 10K + or - range for a while.
Seems like it would be a less complicated to remake than most traditional pinball machines.
I don't think they would sell several thousand of these, but I would think they could sell 500-1000 units if they were priced in the 5-6k range.
I played an original cactus canyon for a couple hours on location the other day. It plays like monster bash in a lot of ways. Shots were really fun and pop up bad guys fantastic. I didn’t make it to Marshall and I didn’t understand the train toy. But the call outs were fantastic and overall gameplay kept me and the wife pumping quarters. A bird told me this was going to be the next CGC game and I have to say I am a buyer

Did the bird mention MMR Royal next ?

I have a related question. I own original MM, IJ and TOTAN. Will all these remakes drop the value of my games?
Quoted from Charlemagne1987:Will all these remakes drop the value of my games?
No guarantees.
My opinion is if you paid a fair price for a mint game, it won't drop, or keep appreciating in value if it is. If you over paid for a turd, yes your value will drop.
When MMR was announced, beater MM's were going over $10K, not any more.

Quoted from Lethal_Inc:I say remake Scared Stiff so they can cash in on the Elvira craze right now.
Yes, this. I’ve been starting to look for one and a remake would be amazing
CC, the current game, doesn't interest me at all. But I'm really interested in CCr to see what they do with it, and how it augurs for BBBr, ToMr and presumably original titles some time thereafter.
CC I'd expect them to completely re-do the cabinet and translite package, add a lot of code, completely new animations & sound, and improve the toys. I.E. way more work than their previous titles. BBBr will be more work still (save art package).

if your games are all original and in mint condition there will always be some "purist" out there that will want one....now that being said there is no doubt it will have an effect on value....

I’m guessing not much if any. I was in the market for an original AFM, but the price for a good condition one is as much or more than an AFMr LE on the secondary market. I was fortunate to find an LE, so decided to go that route instead of original.

Yes we can all dream. Seriously do you think they are not careful with the cost of développement ? Why do you think none of the remake has new code and we see only a new LCD with animations? It’s not Christmas there : there are in the business to stay and make money... and releasing extra for crazy price was a smart move. Just check how much cost an LCD now on China market.
I think that one could forget new code as it was already the plan and it has been abandoned. I would guess the cost drive all that.
I would be in for a IJ but I doubt license theme will come back as well.
I think they should go for popadiuk games.
Totan, tom and esp voltaire, goes away quick here in sweden if they are on the market, they are also the most esthetically pleasing, which i think is very important, cause lets face it, theese are all outdated games.

Originals by far have the upper hand.

Do you seriously believe that CCr would sell, or that they would have chosen to do it if it wasn't a top to bottom remake?
We know there's going to be additional code - that means there must be new original animations and sound too. Cab & translite art, and improving the toys / sculpts etc is my speculation, but none are of the same quality or iconic status as MM, AFM or MB .... if they don't do anything, they risk spending a ton on code and media, and still ending up with a comparatively weak offering compared with their other 3 games. They'd have to be mad not to improve the railway and cowboy, or do something about the obtrusive apron guns. Moreover Youssi is a free agent, and as a % of total development & manufacturing cost, art is minuscule - why not hire him to do a sweet new package?
If they aren't planning to do that stuff, it was a bad idea to take on the project in the first place.
