I've already made my choice to give up my AC/DC for Indy, but I am curious how many others would do the same. There will also be some cash coming my way.

Quoted from Tommi_Gunn:Seriously need a poll for this? Should I get a 2012 vette or 1993 mini van?
Exactly!! WTF!!
I like Williams IJ, and I have one. Love the IJ theme, and I'll probably (probably) never get rid of it, possibly just for nostalgia's sake, but I've played an AC/DC LE and it rocked. If I already had the AC/DC LE I don't think I'd be trading it for the IJ, as much as I like IJ.
The AC/DC was just fast and in your face. The IJ is a totally different style of play. Are you sure you won't be missing the AC/DC?
I had an IJ, but am buying an AC / DC premium because I totally love it!
I am a big fan of the Indiana Jones series, but the IJ didn't please me as much, the sound and graphics are amazing, but I don't seem to like wide body machines, and the game (including the bugs) didn't last for me.
As a guitar player and fan of AC / DC, the new stern is everything I want it to be, and this is including the knowledge of the incomplete software.
Quoted from Breadfan:Exactly!! WTF!!
This coming from a guy who bought WOZ...nice theme...should go great with your mini-van.

haha...well played. IJ no brainer.
Beautifully themed wide-body machine made in the Golden Age of Pinball w/ 12 modes, incredible shots, DCM sound, and a tilting playfield (not to mention a completed code)...
...or an exciting and slightly faster pin made in the Pinball Dark Ages (lets be honest) by a company that wanted a to profit by NOT incorporating stereo sound into a music-themed game. It has MONO for heaven sake!
I own IJ. I've played AC/DC.
At the local arcade they are actually side by side. Used to have to wait in line before I bought one.
^ I'm a huge Indiana Jones fan so take all this with a grain of salt.
2 very different games. I've owned IJ twice and it may be one of if not the best mode based games ever. You have a Tron already so maybe your looking for a deeper adventure for your other pin.
All that being said ACDC is pure fun and such a great adrenaline rush that I'd choose it everytime over IJ.
HA. My AC/DC Premium sits directly to the right of my IJ. Man, such a tough call, it's not that one game is better than the other, it just depends what type of player you are:
IJ - Classic widebody, TONS of fun modes. Sure games like TZ and AF have lots of modes, but IMO IJ's are the most relevant. I hate video modes, but IJ has a couple of the best in Pinball. Cool toys with the POA and idol lock. Awesome sound.
AC/DC - Speed, action, flow, intensity. Not many modes, but tons of strategy. Awesome audio and an edgy theme which is rare these days.
If I had to pick today, I would keep the IJ. My IJ has a great playfield and very little fading (I'm sure there's some) but it would be very difficult for me to find another one.
IJ for me on this vote. For me the theme blows out AC/DC but, I'm not a big AC/DC fan so take it FWIW.
Having stated the above, I do like the features that AC/DC has better like the lower PF, color change LEDs, Cannon, Bell. So if it had a theme that appealed more, I would have changed my vote.
I think they re-skined AC/DC LE with RE, it would be my favorite pin (possibly).
I owned IJ and own AC/DC premium now. From a collectible standpoint perhaps IJ is the way to go, but from a gameplay perspective? In no possible way is IJ a better game than AC/DC from a gameplay point of view.
stacking in IJ--basically none other than multiball on top of certain modes
stacking in AC/DC--basically everything
modes--IJ has 12, AC/DC has 12 'songs' which are basically modes
strategy--there's just a ridiculous amount of things you can do in AC/DC to get a big score. Using the multiballs with 2x/3x, stacking on certain modes, super loops, combos, etc. IJ has some good strategy as well for getting to the end (mainly concerning getting all the extra balls possible) but for score just doing the multiball is the main goal. I believe Bowen called AC/DC's ruleset one of best stern has put out even as it sits now (it's in one of the threads somewhere).
I think someone above mentioned sound (stereo vs mono). Have you listened to these games???? AC/DC (and frankly most SAM games) make the DCS games sound pretty terrible in comparison. I think even in one of Topcasts one of the sound guys says that the SAM is a far superior system to the DCS.
Other than possibly cost, theme, and collectibility, there really isn't a reason to pick IJ over AC/DC. AC/DC is just a much better game from a gameplay perspective (and honestly I love the IJ theme and really liked the game when I had it). I wouldn't mind owning both. But there's no way I would trade AC/DC for IJ having owned both...that being said, I'm not sure there's much of anything I'd trade AC/DC for as of now, it's definitely the best Stern game I've played since Iron Man. It's too early for me to say though whether it will hold my interest for 1, 2, 5 years, etc, you know like every game has that honeymoon stage. I don't see it having the same issues that usually make me sell a game, it has the same addictive 'one more time' appeal that Iron Man has.
Looks like the newer Sterns are giving the old B/W games a run for their money ! Who'd of thought ?
Jim

ACDC songs being modes is very very iffy to me personally.

I vote mini-van!
if this vans a rocking, don't come a knocking (unless you hear pinball sounds eminating from it)
Indy is a gorgeous machine with a killer theme. However, I just can’t get into the game play (feels clunky to me). AC/DC is just more fun to play IMO (better audio quality, lighting effects, and faster game play). I’m not crazy about AC/DC’s music, but it’s better than synthesized John Williams.
I'm surprised this is even close...AC/DC. But with that said, if you are thinking about trading it then it's probably lost it's luster for you. Probably best to just get something else, they'll still be around if you decide to pick up another later on.
On IPDB.org right now, IJ is the #8 game of all time. I'm surprised that you're surprised that AC/DC isn't blowing it away.
Quoted from jitneystand1:I'm surprised this is even close...AC/DC.
is the AC/DC yuor trading out a pro or a premium....
that would make a difference in my opinion....
pro? OK
premium ? not so much....
Once you start playing new Sterns you can't go back. They make everything look, feel, and play dated. My other games are collecting dust.

This is a bit of a surprise to hear you say Mike ! I agree with you 100%

I agree with him too.....except for the part about not being crazy about AC/DC's music!

2012 Mustang GT or 1993 Escort GT
Quoted from Tommi_Gunn:IJ is like driving a slow van around an obstacle course while listening to AM radio. The only excitement you're going to see is dodging some orange cones.
HA HA HA HA HA....... That sounds just like my last game on IJ (every game that is). With that said, if I could keep the ball out of the slings I'm sure I'd like IJ more.

Don't worry I'm still not buying one
It's a fun game to play (more fun than IJ anyway), just not my favorite theme. However, my next Stern machine will be an SR title.
Quoted from jalpert:On IPDB.org right now, IJ is the #8 game of all time. I'm surprised that you're surprised that AC/DC isn't blowing it away.
The reasons I am surprised:
1. ACDC is easily the most purely fun pin I have ever played. That includes most of the greats and many of the rest. It deserves a top 10 rank and I believe it will eventually have it.
2. ACDC is still new enough to have a significant "honeymoon" voting bloc.
3. Maybe its just coincidence but there have been a half dozen IJ's for sale locally in the last year. All these flashy new pins coming out (acdc, tron, xmen, woz, etc), and IJ seems to be the one getting cut to fund/create space.
So yeah, still surprised.
Quoted from HighProtein:2012 Mustang GT or 1993 Escort GT
More like a '93 Diablo or a 2012 Aventador.
In 19 years there is nothing new about AC/DC except there are less shots than IJ. 2 ramps we have seen on many stern pins and the toy is a bell that swings, Ground breaking. Still use the same dmd with red bsd color. Go 19 years before IJ and see what you get. No dmd, No ramps, No modes,no drop holes, and slow . My IJ plays fast, just wax the field and add a little more angle. AC/DC is fun no doubt but i prefer a 1965 Corvette to a new one. i do'nt even know what a new one looks like does anyone.

I like both of these games but neither deserve supercar status.
Edit: Haven't played either enough but tend to think ACDC would earn that status from me with more plays. I am less sure about the IJ.
Well, yah. I hate TZ, but when it's ranked against any other random game I'd never expect it to be blown away. IJ, like TZ, MM, AFM etc are all universally very respected games. There are certainly going to be some people who don't like it, and those that don't prefer it. But top 10 games don't typically get blown away by anything.
AC/DC rocks. Last night I cranked away for 30 minutes without a score of 30 million. Then I put up a 140mil (good for me) made high score #4 and walked away on a high note
