    Quoted from Williampinball:

I found a Eastwood 18" I think it can hold more parts ,does anyone have this one ?
    Thanks

It looks to be the same Chinese model as the HF one that is $129 with the coupon.

If there is actually any difference between the models, the HF one is much better rated (4 stars) than the Eastwood.

    Quoted from wxforecaster:

Anyone have any on experience on when to use an ultrasonic cleaner in place of (or in addition to) a tumbler?

Ultrasonic removes grime from intricate parts.

    Tumbler polishes metal parts.

    Quoted from Williampinball:

Does anyone have a 18lb Eastwood tumbler

I have the identical HF 18lb one.

Works great, and believe me, I have well over 3000 hours on that thing.

    Quoted from Williampinball:

Hi what do you get with the HF 18lb one when you buy it ?
    Thanks so much

For rusted parts I use the resin pyramids:

For polishing, I get 50 pound bags of walnut shells from the local pet shop, and add a squirt of Flitz.

Make sure your parts are clean of grease before you go and contaminate your media.

Don't bother cleaning and polishing common screws and bolts. It's cheaper to just buy them brand new at Bolt Depot:

Ok thanks so much for the help ,oh do you find the tumbler load ?

    ?

    Quoted from Williampinball:

    Lol loud I mean ,sorry

Depending on what media you are using, it sounds like an old garbage disposal.

You will probably put it outside if you are working in the shop at the same time its running.

    Quoted from Gatecrasher:

Where do you buy the pyramids from Vid?

    Welding/sandblasting place.

Harbor Freight sometimes has them, but it's hit or miss.

    Quoted from Gatecrasher:

And how much does it cost you for a 50lb. bag of walnut shells?

~$35. It does not have a grade on the bag, but it's like the normal "fine" walnut shell..

Sometimes Petco has the Zilla brand walnut shells for $25 for 50lb so keep an eye out for that.

25% off this weekend on HF stuff, so $120 may make your mind up.

Just don't polish off all the chrome, or you will have a copper colored bracket.

    Quoted from cosmokramer:

Well in an attempt to keep from having down time I took my tumbler apart and lubed the bearings (the motor had stopped turning and was just kind of groaning)... It has been working great again now for 48hrs...

Cosmokramer's guide to keeping your polisher lubed - I can see it already!

People never oil their furnace motors either, even though they say to oil every 12 months. Then they are surprised when they freeze up.

Might be a good idea to hit the bearings on the polishers BEFORE they go.

(I'm guilty, of having both of mine running for 3+ years and not ever oiling them....)

    Quoted from hawkmoon:

OK,question, all you guys rock, what do you buy if you only wanna shine up our balls?? No restoration,or heavy use, just a sometimes use like 2 times a year?? Thanks!!!

Just buy new balls for $1.50 .

The tumbler is $70, the Flitz is $22, the walnut shells are $25 - you can buy a shit load of ultra polished balls for $120....

    Quoted from PNorth:

My HF tumbler burned out and died... Has anyone tried one of these rotary tumblers:

Let's see some pictures of the inside.

Did you try hotwiring the switch? My buddy the re-loader had a broken switch that he simply bypassed - if you plug it in, it's on.....
