Just acquired a Williams Police Force which, all in all, works pretty well. However, each time the ball resets a solenoid in the right rear (under the ramp) fires four times (loudly). It looks like the firing solenoid moves the hooked bar which prevents the ball from sliding down the ramp until the proper score is reached. It doesn't seem right that it should fire 4x every time a new ball is activated though?

What do you mean resets? After you drain and it kicks the ball into the shooter lane something up top will fire a few times?

most likely your diverter cam needs to be adjusted or replaced

If it is original, replace it. If it is newer, might need a cleaning. Mine is only a year old or so and was gunned up and a swipe with IPA and a cloth fixed the issue. Check the rod it slides on too. That can get tacky with old grease.

Thanks for the suggestions; I'll check the rod this weekend. To answer desertT1, yes, after the ball drains and kicks out the solenoid in the rear fires 4 times...always 4 times.

Game will check diverter 4 times, then stop if cant use it properly. It is just mechanical problem with diverter - spring, rod, plastic. You may try get access there by rear side of cabinet through vent holes, as i did. Put PF on something to get diverter box behind vent hole (actually, PF holding rod if lay forward give this chance). Yes, it is not easy, but real with long screwdriver and some dexterity ) Clean ALL plastic there, do not use any lubricant, it should work fine!
