I put in a freshly rebuilt relay and that did not help.

Remember there are 2 relays that make the car work.

Did not know that, both under playfield?

#353 4 years ago

I replaced the other relay board with a known good one and no go on the car. In good news everything is now working except the car and maybe a flasher or 2, but could just be the bulb.

I can get the car to go backwards sometimes. I did notice that when I started multiball the car appeared to try to go backwards instead of forwards.

will start back on it tomorrow. Thanks for all your help Grumpy.

Run a solenoid test and make sure both relays are clicking. They are solenoid #15 and #16.

still can't get into test through coin door buttons - I took working relays out of my Transporter the rescue - this morning I reflowed motor board and check continuity on the wires to the relay.

Moved car to middle and started game and it moved forward, but does not move to the back position during game. If I manually move it back and lock 2 balls it does not move forward to start multiball

Solenoids 02A and 05A are not working now - these 2 are connected by red wire and I checked continuity to each other and the aux board - All 4 where working again after replacing fuse last night and this morning 02A and 05A not working.

You may want to remove the inner connect board and check the back side for cracked header joints.

That's the original 1989 speaker grill. The game has been routed most of its life so I guess I'm just lucky. I've never heard of a stencil being made.

I actually put a new one in last night. I had mine from transporter repaired so put original back in transporter and put a new gulf board in police force.

#361 4 years ago

any of you guys that replaced your center ramp and your old one is pretty decent give me a shout or send some pics. Might buy it

#362 4 years ago

I had an interesting thing for System 11's happen recently. When I turned on the game the GI came on and the little buzzing sound clip the speaker plays happened, but then nothing else. I turned it off and opened up the head to look at the 3 red LEDs and turned it on again. The game booted normally. I played a few games and everything seemed fine. I'm going to leave it off for a while and watch the LEDs next time I power it on, just in case it fails.

The main reason I'm asking questions today is that my diverter will click 5 times on occasion. Sometimes it seems random, but other times it's right after a ramp was made and I think it's trying to change from the lock path to the inlane return path. I've had this game a few years and it's had about 2000 plays in that time. When I got it the diverter was seized up. I replaced the moving part and cleaned the gunk off of the mounted part and it's been great since then. Don't see mention ion the manual of 5 clicks being an error message of sorts that the game does.

#363 4 years ago

Well, I gave up on getting the car to work and pulled all the boards. Going to look them over and rejoin some connectors and then see what happens.

Still no advice on speaker upgrades ?
Hmmm

So I fininished re-rubbering the playfield as well as cleaning the whole thing since I had the ramps out. After that I played a few games. The diverter was doing the clicking thing again. 5 clicks is most definitely a signal. I had to take several connectors off from in the head, but I pulled the whole PF out to access that mech. The triangular diverter piece was binding. Remember, I replaced this a few years ago so it isn't factory.

Manually cycling it I saw that the pivot point of the part with the triangular path was tilting against the shaft it was supposed to pivot on and slide along. I put a washer under the pivot piece and that ended up taking out enough of the slop to stop the binding. I tried two washers and that was too thick and it wouldn't catch the ramped part of the triangular path. Going to put it back in the game now and see if it's actually fixed...

finally fixed

Any updates on the Reproduction playfield?

#373 4 years ago

I haven't read through this whole thread, but does anyone sell JUST the inner ramp? I seem to only be able to find both ramps as a set, but I don't need a replacement outer ramp.

EDIT: Just skimmed through the whole thread. Looks like buying a full set is the only option

#374 4 years ago

Been following this thread for months and just realized I never posted. Got my pf in a multiple machine deal and its the only one that made it to the keeper collection. Great game, guests and kids like it and even the wife gets a kick out of the art work

Stupid question anyone have extra spinner laying around?

#378 4 years ago
Quoted from Droptargets:

The skill shot one?

I’ve seen people asking for these. Are there any games that are missing them? The one on my game is sort of a hack. It was welded together and has a weight welded to the back of the part where the ball hits. Was like that when I got it. Curious as to how many are put together like mine just to keep the feature.

Can anyone weigh theirs? Mine is such a hack I have no idea how much it’s supposed to weigh at all. It can be a weight with the disk that breaks the opto.

#381 4 years ago

I'm going to pull mine out for a guy in our local league, I'll weigh it then. His is in pieces.

Almost done ! New displays installed
Topper etc . Would have liked to upgrade speakers but didn’t find anything

Hi guys,

New to posting- first post actually!!

Just started a tear down on my Police Force! I scored a NOS playfield and am planning to install eventually!

I would like to get new ramps and plastics one day before installing. No point doing a half job.

Still trying to clean up the old one though. Mylar came off in one piece. Man is it filthy!

Figured i would share a couple images!

Cheers,
Brian

It appears to be in great shape. I might even just sell your NOS playfield and fund another machine.

#386 4 years ago

Thanks guys! Its cleaning up alot better than I thought it would. A little bit of wear at the bottom right (where the ball falls from the center ramp). I will have to fill that and re-paint. Spinner is in awesome shape, just ordered new decals for it and the drop targets yesterday.

Its definitely not the worst condition pin I've owned hahaha.

To get a new ramp set and plastics up here would run me around $800 Cad with shipping. That is definitely a hard pill to swallow!! I could almost get another pin for that.

For now its just a wall hanger as I couldn't turn it down when it was offered to me.

Cheers!
Brian

You just have to be careful putting to much into a machine like this. I have one and love it, but I also had to dial back my spending on it because at the end of the day it is still a $2000 or less game.

I totally agree, up here I may get a little more as pinball prices are stupid high right now- but still, I would never get my money back out of it. I went crazy on a High Speed a few years back and I broke even. But I also went all out on a T2 and lost about $600.

For now, I will just clean it up and have fun with it. My family seems to like PF over any other pin that I've brought home hahaha.

#389 4 years ago

Is that NOS playfield getting cleared? I would suggest doing that for sure. Without Mylar PF has got to have some of the least durable art ever. Mine has Mylar and where it doesn’t, just below the spinner, inlanes, outlanes, and other spots are worn to the wood.

The NOS playfield still has mylar on it. I am just going to keep that one as original as possible.

I pulled the mylar off my old playfield. I am definitely considering clearing the old playfield though, as it is wearing to the wood as well.

I went over board !

If anyone has some nice custom score cards ? Love to buy a set .

If that nos playfield might be for sale
Would love to have Ron Kruzman clear it
And put it in my game ?

I was able to put my Police Force back together today, no extra screws leftover and only one led flasher was in backwards.

I didnt end up using my NOS playfield but did lots of cleaning on the existing one. I couldnt justify using the playfield, when my current one was good enough.

Cleaned everything, Cliffys installed on the ramps, Comet Leds (except flashers), new pop bumper bodies, caps and skirts, broken posts replaced, new ball guides at the top, new flipper linkages, new sleeves, balls and rubbers and a real good waxing. She plays great now, very fast!!

Added a bunch of pictures to the teardown file in Pinside too!

I'd send it your way Whitey if I wasnt scared it would be seized at the border!

I tried to buy a used guitar out of Florida in November and it was seized at the border due to the wood. I couldn't believe it.

Hey everyone, so I just picked up a Police Force myself. Rebuilt the flippers and got a new ramp set from Starship and it's playing great so far.

Does anyone else get air balls off the center ramp? It was happening with with the old ramp as well, so maybe I need to pitch the machine up a bit more.

Do you have the flap at the top back where it makes the bend?

I do, but the ball seems to be jumping before that. I did up the pitch a bit and that seems to have helped, but I still have gotten a few.
