Was there a data sheet for the leds you purchased?
If these are just run of the mill LEDs then you can use 3.3 volt drop for white LEDs. If you ran 2 LEDs in series they would drop 6.6 volts together and no resistor would be required. If just one led, then subtract 3.3 from the 6.3 leaving 3 volts left for resistor to drop. Use ohms law to calculate. For red LEDs use 2.0 to 2.2 volt drop per. Blue LEDs use 3.6 volts.

Quoted from Jeffreyjonesbsme:

I purchased 5mm LEDs on Amazon for my police car.

Definitely post pictures once you've got it sorted! I've been meaning to do this as well.

I’m going to try Titan’s fluted 2 SMD LEDs in the GI. I have it in from route for a shop job for the first time in 7 years. I really like the look of incandescents in this game so hopefully these LEDs will allow me to get that similar look with a wide light spread. Looking for Nifty LED's effect used in Medieval Madness and Attack from Mars Remake, those LEDs are amazing.

hey everyone thought i would post on here, i recently got myself my first pinball, police force. This is my all time favorite pinball from when i was an obsessed teenager. Its really great for my family because i love the easy middle ramp with unlimited millions and the right ramp twice takes high score for the kids. They are really taken with it and play it at least an hour every day (so do i). It has a few issues, namely sometimes one of drug rat's targets doesn't register and the car doesn't work right. But i'll work that out soon even if i have to take it to someome. I love it so much it doesn't matter.

Was just given a police force pin and looking forward to restoration! I see cab decals are available, what else is available? Topper ? Plastics ? The playfield is day one Mylar and I don’t imagine finding a playfield would be easy ?
Any advice on this would be great, never owned or even played one

Yes, I have all of the above.

Cab decals: $2500
Uncracked topper: $500
Full plastic set, unopened: $1500
Fully restored, cleared pf: $6695.00

I will toss in shipping.

Are those numbers right?! I love the game but can't imagine spending $11K on parts for it and that doesn't even include new ramps!

#258 4 years ago

No, those prices are pretty unrealistic. Especially for a System 11. I found a new ramp set for around $250. I think a new CPR playfield is available for the standard $1000.

I could be mistaken but I believe he listed those prices that high because whitey usually has some high dollar pins listed in the market place.

I finished my Police Force high end restoration.
Too many things to list...but everything was done.
Basics:
Clear coated playfield
Powder coated metal
New cabinet decals
New ramps
Metal Mod pop bumper decals
Artist signed NOS translite
Etc.
Nothing was left undone.
Enjoy

Looking for the firing range spinner assembly. Mine was missing when I bought the machine.
Any leads to find one appreciated.

#265 4 years ago
Quoted from emkay:

If I had some spinners made, how many of y'all would be interested? No idea on the cost, might could get some made on the sly though.

would be interested in 2 spinners.

#266 4 years ago

I’m still interested as well.

#267 4 years ago

Mine managed to snap in half this month, while on route at our local Independence Day festivities. Definitely still in the market for a spinner.

And maybe a weaker plunger spring.

#268 4 years ago

KLF was going to do some but I haven't heard anything from him about it in a while.

Just noticed emkay was making them a while back... I'm interested in one!

I’m very impressed with Titan’s fluted LEDs. They look amazing in this game compared to the dimmer LEDs used in the top half of the playfield. I am working my way up from the bottom.

I am just in the club. I over paid for a game (bought by photos) that looked like it was in super condition cabinet and playfield. Sadly it was not. It is a project machine that needs alot of love to come alive. But I am a man that honor my word, so I payed the agreed amount and brought it home.

So, anyone got spare used plastics for the game that still is ok? Could you care to part with them. Almost all in my game are trashed, big way.

Could anyone be kind enough to shoot a couple of good photos of the shooting range spinner assembly, I am missing the opto board and mounting completely. Where does it connect? Where to get a new optoboard? Thankfully the spinning target it self is in a pretty good nick.

Cheers

Is there a replacement plastic for the cocaine cartel that is more family friendly? Prepping a game for a location with lots of kids....

#273 4 years ago

Hi could anyone who has this pin do me a huge favor and post a few pics of how the display is connected to the backboard? When I bought mine it wasn't attached at all and I'd like to know if its bolted directly on or if it has some sort of standoffs. Here's a picture of mine so you can see what I want to see.

You need to replace these before the display breaks off.

Grumpy: yeah thank you I am actually going to replace the entire display with the led one on marco. That being said I'm going to also going to replace the PCB standoffs from the link you provided because I was going to offer up this display for sale once I've replaced it.

If there is someone making repro spinners I'd like signed up to the list as well. Mine is duct taped together.

Has anyone said they are going to be doing playfields? CPR, Hardtop, Mirco?

ok, although i should tell you that the bottom display is almost completely burned out... I actually have a replacement display for it but then decided i'd just go ahead and get the LED one. so when i get it swapped i'd be selling the display plus also another display to replace the burned out one.

Are there different versions of PoliceForce? Or is the games that I've seen re-decaled with after market decals?
Anyone knows? Whats going on here?

Variations I've seen:
(A) Cabinet front (on actual flyer) only with POLICEFORCE in yellow at the bottom.
(B) Cabinet front (of images over the internet) with POLICEFORCE in yellow at the bottom AND a GUN to the right AND something else (?) to the left.
(C) Painted version(s)
(D) Decaled version(s)

Cheers

What I was told when I got mine was that Williams for whatever reason changed the cabinet during production, removing some of the guns to make it a bit more family friendly. Mine is the later dumbed-down one.

No idea on decal vs painted.

Something else I noticed, in one of the manual diagrams the jail plastic is on the right side instead of the left. Which is interesting, since Python’s Batman concept drawing shows the lock on the left, which is what I would assume would be the bat cave.

$1000 USD when using NGG as a comparable playfield that is listed with info. My game has factory mylar on it, so I don't NEED a new one. That will be something I have to think about for a while.

I may be buying a Police Force that is rough.
And may part it out.
PM me with what you need.
If I get enough interest... I'll pick it up.
I need some System 11 parts only.

I think this is true of a lot of us in here... My outside ramp is great, center is a little banged up but not bad enough to make me spend the $ for both. Sure wish they'd do a run of just center ramps!

#293 4 years ago

My understanding is Larry's Williams molds come as a set, and because of the amount of plastic that would be wasted just doing the center ramp he does not offer them through Starship Fantasy. Well, he might, but when I asked I was quoted a steep price that was not far off from the price for both.

Thanks for the info. My right ramp was serviceable, but not great, so I decided to spring for the whole set. Any advice on how I should protect them from future cracking?

#295 4 years ago

I would ensure you have Cliffy's protectors installed and make sure there is a good fit with no open gaps for a ball to wedge between at the entrances.

#296 4 years ago

Has anyone here tried to pull up the mylar on their Police Force? Mine has a bit of bubbling underneath and was wondering if this is a title that is prone to losing artwork/letting when removing mylar. Not sure I'd attempt it, but wanted to hear others weigh in. Thanks!

#297 4 years ago

I would strongly advise against pulling mylar as this is not a clearcoated game.

Pulling the Mylar isn’t a bad job but like mentioned above... unless you plan to clear coat it or replace the Mylar with new then I wouldn’t pull it. A lot of system 11s have some planking issues too and tend to wear very fast when exposed

If you go for it, get the canned air at Walmart. That stuff is great freeze spray. I used a few cans of the stuff from Lowe's and it sucked. Lost a couple inserts with that. The Walmart stuff did the rest no paint or insert loss. This was my F14. After cleaning waxing and leveling the inserts, I used the factory contoured mylar from Marco. Nice and thick. Looks great. I wasn't doing a collector restore so I wasn't messing with clear coat. I'm very satisfied with it now. I'm my case the inserts were all popping out of the playfield so I had to remove the mylar. I would always try to save factory mylar in general.

#300 4 years ago

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to see how it cleans up before I consider doing anything else. It sounds like it will need some sort of protection either way so I might as well try to save the factory mylar.
