Quoted from PinballManiac40:

So with P3 Multimorphic, Hobbit, TWD, TBL, and Full Throttle coming out soon, is there one of these any one would like to see pop up on routes?
Any interest in seeing AC/DC, Star Trek or Metallica on route? Of course, we would be talking PRO version.

I've gone to Hay Merchant several times just to play AC/DC and ST. I'd definitely go play any other game.

Honestly, if the games play well, I will go play them.

The bar owner was talking like he wanted to see which new game people would most likely play.
He seems interested in buying one new game.

Sorry to say Jurassic Park has a DMD out on top of the left/right motor being out on the T-Rex. That is a bummer. Just wanted to warn anyone about those issues.

Who all would be interested in a playing in a league? The idea would be to have a season where we meet once a week to compete and socialize. At the end of the season we'd have a playoff.

Ideally we'd have a venue like Poison Girl to play at. Unfortunately, I don't think the maintenance there would support competition play. The other alternative is to lobby for more pinballs on route!

As an added note--I am willing to help anyone maintain pinball machines put on location (looking at you Poison Girl....).

Doesn't seem like there is a lot of parking around Poison Girl.
The bar I think normally opens at 5pm on Saturday, but unsure of any other days.
It seems tough to have a tournament during the nighttime crowds. No?

I imagine Walking Dead would do really well at Poison Girl. ACDC and MET also.

But honestly, I would rather see him invest in maintaining the games he has....

I've never had trouble parking.

Also, this would be geared more towards locals. I doubt more that 15-20 people would be there on any given week. Also, the aim would be to do it on the deadest night of the week (e.g., Monday or Tuesday). That way the league gives extra business on the slower nights.

So let's pick a night of the week right now, and see who shows up to play. Even if it's just a gathering vs a league, I think it would still be fun. I'm pretty busy right now with getting games ready for the expo, but I could use a night off.

I am interested in gatherings/leagues. I don't think hay merchant is interested in giving up more space for pins. When I spoke to them, they seemed to be hesitant towards giving up tables for more machines

Both ac/dc and star trek premium are at the hay merchant next to x-men le. I would love to see a metallica on route

TSPP - flippers pretty good, plunger bad, but hits comic book guy almost every time. missing tons of post rubbers, appears to be missing the couch lock ball stop, but i got couch multiball once...

CFTBL - much better lighting/flippers. pops/slings still out, no shooter rubber

MB - wouldn't take coins

WoF - seemed good

I500 - seemed good

TS - seemed good

JP - still no DMD, slow trough

For me, games on route in the dark:
1. should be well lit
2. clean glass
3. L E Ds!

Stopped by on Tuesday night for my first time....mostly played I500, because I am considering acquiring one. It played well. Played a few WOF. The middle contestant was missing. Otherwise, it played as it should. Wanted to play TS, but the coin door was all jammed up.

Impression of the bar....interesting. Good prices on the beer. I had some khaki colored cargo pants on, and felt like I was glowing. Wear dark denim or black if you want to disappear in the crowd.

Good to see some a-title games available for play...TSPP, MB, CFTBL...if you are looking for some pinball in Houston, give Poison Girl a visit.

Visited Poison Girl Friday night. Wow, those pins just continue to deteriorate. CFTBL: No GI, pop bumpers completely dead. flaky switch in the slide shot. TSPP: Saw upper left flipper was stuck in up position, didn't even bother putting quarters in. I noticed several other people trying to put quarters in and they weren't registering. I500 was okay, had a STRONG lean to the left, and the levelers were rusted in place. Spiderman: all the CPU controlled playfield lights were out. Fun playing when you have no idea what's lit! MB, and Shadow were turned off.

It's sad seeing those games in such shit condition. It really doesn't do any good for the hobby

For all you Houston players looking to play, I've started the space city pinball league! We have regular events at The Game Preserve, and starting soon at Joystix's Bar. We'll also be having a tournament at my house soon.

Sign up for the league at spacecitypinball.com! The more we can grow pinball in Houston, the more location pinball will start to pop up.

Location pinball grows typically from people like myself the "collector/operator".
There is the rare operator who buys new games and the rare operator that upgrades games out.
Basically, route pinball is an uphill battle, leagues & popularity won't grow location pinball as much as
people starting to collector/operate, but those are so far and in-between...

creating demand doesn't increase supply?

not saying i completely disagree with you, having collectors willing to put their games on route is important. However, theres a strong correlation between competition pinball and location pinball (e.g., Seattle, Chicago).

Field Report: 03-04-16 9pm
TSPP: No controlled lights, only GI. All upper flippers stuck/non working. Backbox light out.
CFTBL: Not turned on
MB: Not turned on
Spider Man: No controlled lights, only GI. Left flipper sticking. Backbox light out. Game extremely dirty in need of shopping.
I-500: Needs shopping, auto plunger tip worn, needs replacing. Very dark game.
Wh2o: whirlpool make ramp switch out, no whirlpool awards given due to faulty switches, back extremely dark. Balls from Vuk rolling backwards down ramp, check level of game.
JP: appeared in decent condition. Coin Mech ate money so left with 1 of 2 coins needed could not play machine.

All machines in need of novus\wax.

Pinball Machines in general were very dark and there were no other players during visit. In general the best playing and functioning machine was I-500.

#169 3 years ago

That was sad to read.

There's such a great lineup there but nothing is ever working. It's a shame cause they also have over 100 different Bourbons there. It would be a regular place for me if the pins ever worked. I've been three times in the last 6 months or so and there wasn't one machine that worked correctly on any visit.

#171 3 years ago

I only went there once last summer and it was the same exact story. I guess they are there for ambiance and not to play.
