I am about to dissect and clean my ball plunger in my f14 tomcat.....its loose and sticking and takes 2 to 3 pulls sometimes just to get the ball allllll the way over to the left side of the play field. I am getting some rubbing alcohol for the rod, a new rubber tip (old one looks chewed up and dry rotted), and a new barrel spring as it looks a little compressed and is rusty. Anything else I should keep an eye out for or do before i do this? And what is the best supply place to get my materials from?

i use Marco and PBR

Both should have the parts you need. If your shooter tip is rotten you may want to check the rest of your rubber in the machine. You can normally get a full set of rubbers for 20 bucks or so.

Throw in 3 bucks for a new pinball also. The shinier the better

Thanks way2....I went onto macro and ordered a bunch of things including a set of those silver jet balls and a set of new play field rubbers....advice taken.

Are those silver jets safe to use on machines with magnets too? I have heard rumblings that it's not a good idea because I may need replacement balls for another pin down the pipeline here....just wanted to see what these beauties can do first.

Make sure the tip of your shooter rod isn't all chunked up, if so you can file it or just buy a new one. Also check the manual and make sure you have the correct tension shooter spring. Change the sleeve in there too.

Good luck swapping everything. It will be a different machine.
