That’s what the bottom nut is for. It’s basically a union. Once that’s unscrewed the whole valve assembly can be turned out of the nipple.

Yes. The nut once unscrewed will fall all the way down to the ball valve. The copper pipe just touches the bottom of the brass and can be pulled over to allow the brass valve to be unscrewed
