Exactly what it says. In a number of threads this past week the random boob shot is showing up. I am all for boobies, however, the randomness of them is making it more difficult for a number of members to view the site while at work.

Can we as a community please start to mark threads with NSFW once someone posts graphic material not suitable for a work environment?

    Thoughts?

    #2 12 years ago

I'm with you. It's the right thing to do and no one wants to be fired for looking at boobs at work on a pinball website.

    #3 12 years ago

suggestion.. make a password protected sub forum.
I admin at a 33,000 member forum where we added one and it has helped tremendously!
Folks that wanna tell bad jokes, post boobie pics and whatnot CAN.. and the rest of the forum is "kid Safe" for the most part.. FWIW...

    #5 12 years ago

Today, I checked a thread about a custom Scoobydoo pinball machine, (imagine, something as innocent as that) and half way through it, there was a rule 34 image of Velma (not bad, but starting to get racy) and then it was soon followed with a image of a dvd porn title based on Scoobydoo.

I think the best thing to do is not post this kind of thing at all in the first place. I for one can't keep tabs on all my old posts and neither can the guy who originally started that topic to flag it as NSFW.

If you really require to prove how straight you are, there are other places like xtube for all that kind of stuff. I feel, with the wide dynamic of age ranges that could be watching, it isn't appropriate.

I think it would be nice to extend a common courtesy to keep your replies on topic to what the thread is about. Don't clutter threads with naughty images, regardless if the intention is to joke around or to spice up a thread.

I for one enjoy a good joke now and then, but it really is getting out of hand.

You can disable the pics underneath your name on the Pinside Pinball forum's home screen.
(I'd like to think I was one of the reasons it was installed in the first place! )
Once disabled you are now safe to view at work!
    Enjoy!

    And for the record n2k...

Disabling pics entirely is a bit extreme. Hiding posts by certain members might help though. Always seems to be the same names that post these nsfw pics.

And yes. I know you know who I mean.

    #8 12 years ago

Keep up the good work nimble.

    #9 12 years ago

WTH? In a post where someone is concerned about NSFW pics, you post a NSFW pic. Your solution is to turn off all pics? Sure, Velma taking her clothes off isn't nudity, it's fucking creepy and not something people want to be seen doing at work.

If people want to see tits, there are millions of porn sites. Why do people feel the need to post soft core porn on here? It's not exactly sending the right message.

I guess ultimatley it's up to the admins to decide where they want to go with this site. OMG!!! Boobs!!!! Really?

When at work, you should be "working". That's a thought

    #11 12 years ago

Work or home, no different. It's sad that a pinball site is becoming both NSFW and NSFfamilies. I don't like that I have to be careful about looking at this site if my daughter is around. Look, I love boobs as much as or more than everyone. But "PG13" or not it has no place randomly thrown in pinball threads unless it's a backglass or something on topic. I guess I'm cool with it as long as the thread is marked NSFW, but honestly the right thing to do would be create a sub-forum. Pinball is supposed to be a family activity that we can share with our kids...we shouldn't have to worry about if something inapporpriate is going to pop up when surfing around here. There are plenty of other places around the net where that is a real concern. Pinside should be a "safe" place.

That said, I love the "boobie" thread that's going on. Lots of win in there. I'm glad it is marked appropriately though!

Seriously, Robin needs to get this under control or it is going to start turning people away from here. Hate to say it, or to sound like a prude, but it's the truth.

    #12 12 years ago

I apologize for the (mostly) covered titties i posted in the class action lawsuit thread started by "the jesus" a few days ago. I felt the tone had gotten to the point where that thread needed to be derailed by something more powerful, like titties.

Sure, there is nothing wrong with a pic here and a pic there, but it has gotten out of hand lately. Robin has specifically stated in the past that he would prefer not to have this kind of stuff on his site. At one point, the idea of a separate sub-forum for adult content was discussed. Ultimately, Robin decided that this wasn't the direction that he wanted to take Pinside in. I think we should all respect that.

    #15 12 years ago

Yeah, I agree. I love women, everything about them, and LOVE to look at them, but this is a pinball site.

I mean my kids will often sit beside me on the couch while I'm rifling through threads, and the last thing I want to pull up is some racy photo that shouldn't be there and has no relevance.

The LEAST those of you that need to post chick photos in a pinball forum (seriously...) can do is post the title warning as requested.

I would really like to see this made a rule here. Pinside is rolling out of control lately due to what appears to be RGP fully moving in, and it’s going to be a battle to keep the essence of what pinside was going without really enforcing constant changes.

More people is better, and that’s not a shot at any veteran RGPers that have recently arrived, but everyone knows what I’m talking about, and the attitude and general conduct of some over “there” needs to be checked at the door here.

    #18 12 years ago

Well, actually not completely. I meant to post a mata hari BG at first, and when trying to crop a bit to fit a square size, the image, it came out focusing on the boobs, so I thought I would center that and leave it…. So only 25% hypocrisy?

Meh, whatever, I changed it now It was just a quick addition when I first posted a pick for the new site design.

I see no reason for me to turn off the ability to see PINBALL pictures on a PINBALL site just so you can post girlie pictures on a PINBALL site. There are about a billion smut sites on the net for that and only a handful of pinball ones. Let's either keep this pinball site free from that stuff, or at least post the proper NSFW warnings. It has nothing to do with being "holy". I'm a strong Christian and have no problem with smut of all forms in the proper place...in fact I downright enjoy it! This is just not the proper place for it (without warnings at least).

It is ironic how so many of you new guys slam the fabric of rgp when in reality without the majority of people on rgp you would have nothing no expo no nothing. I understand your want for a place free of rgpness. But it funny how many people should be working not looking at anything on the net. Slam me hat me i dont care. Pinside is not going to change the face of how pinball is on the net.

Pinball is not family friendly. Never has been. You can try to make it that way. Pinball has ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT T/A ALWAYS.

What is boils down to is you dont want any conflict of any sort. You want utopia. Hell without guys from rgp visiting over here hardly any tech questions would get answered. This place is in essence a melting pot of new guys and random rehash of rgp. Its just laid out nicer is all. How many tech Problems get solved here?????? Now the few will come on here and have something negative to say about this post, i dont care but you can deny it is the truth.

I am not one to go around trolling or trying to cause trouble. I however WILL speak my mind an dont back down on my principles weather people like that or not. I understand your want for the nsfw makes sense but my stand point is go to work and always will be.

Nothing posted by me at least is any different than what your kids probably wear to the beach or hell maybe even to school. Certainly not any worse than whats on cbs or abc now days.

I am not going to say anything else on the matter other than i respect your wishes and i personally wont post anything outside of the all ready allotted thread.

This is true but not what pinball was founded on. 70'80's backglass SEX SEX SEX SELLS! I would think there would be enough mature adults here that could handle a thread with boobs in it. Now every thread no. I dont agree with that. But if you want to try to say Pinside is a community then people are going to talk about more than pinball. You think when i go over to people's houses we talk about pins? hell the pins rarely get turned on drink beers shoot the shit wives chat men look at cars check out my new Snapon driver set etc.

So I would think that i start a Cars thread on pinside people will get the same way. In essence its not the subject matter its the fact that more people are talking about it more than pinball. Make sense? People are getting uptight it seems because pinball is not all we do.

Why can't Pinside and RGP be mutually exclusive? I love RGP for the tech side. If I have an issue that I can't solve, I first check RGP and then post a TECH thread on RGP. But I hate the normal banter on RGP, because of the asshats.

Pinside, on the other hand is where I love to go talk pinball and rules and games and value debates, etc.... Everything besides hard core tech talk, really. I don't like seeing the RGP trolls and titty stuff going crazy over here, personally. It just seems lowest common denominator, honestly. But that is a given considering the recent source.

    #32 12 years ago

+1 glad to see others that feel the same way I do.

I have been part of an all male gaming clan for close to 10 years and have never been disrespected or subjected to tit pics while trying to read in our forums about online gaming. I am the only female in this clan and sometimes our member numbers have reached near 100, way less than Pinside of course, and not once was this sort of thing tolerated. I mean we're all adults, is it really necessary? They do however have a private thread as suggested here, and I know whats in it and they told me what's in it and they can have their fun and I don't have to see it. Nor will children ever see it.

I am not a prude by any means, I'm a gamer, work in a male dominated field, joke around with the rest of them, own a pick-up truck, ride motorcycles, shoot guns and I am very comfortable hanging around men.

However, I think pinball and arcades are about kids and families...do I think society in general objectifies women to sell products...hell ya. Hell I own an Earthshaker pin and the lady in the car has a huge rack, do I care, not at all. It's a f**king cartoon.

Do I think repeatedly posting real women and their boobs that borders on porn on a pinball forum is inappropriate, you betcha. It's sad really.

I thank the men here who also find it inappropriate for this forum.

We all have opinions and this one is just mine.

Again last comment. Apparently you where not playing pins in the 60-80's when almost every back glass had a huge set of knockers on it. Gary Stern has stated it Roger Sharpe and others have as well. Almost every modern wpc game either has a chick in a bra or nipples outlined.I am not gonna feed into this thread. Everybody has there opinion, your entitled to it. Someone threw up some Boobs in one of my threads. The subject was over and i ran with it. I labeled it accordingly. Its been there for almost a week. No, it doesn't. This is a WEB FORUM. A specialized, virtual community focused on pinball. I go to car forums to discuss cars, gun forums to discuss guns. If I want a "personal community" experience I'll get that in the REAL world, not on the Web. I'm not a prude but I'm at a loss as to why anyone would want to post half-naked pics on a pinball forum. At a "party" if some one is a jerk I can walk away from that person but still stay at the party..it would be great to have a "block/hide/ignore" feature on Pinside since the nude pic posters seem to be limited to just a few PS members.

Disagree. Pinball does not play nice with censorship and warning labels. Argue that point and see how many followers you'll have.

You have an option to remove what offends you.

I realize there's a fine line between "titty pics" and smut, and I would think the majority will chime in when someone crosses the line, self included. But let's not ruin the party with talk of censorship, warnings, and the resulting battle as to where that very line gets drawn.

    Touche!

Yes, one of the design considerations when Ben and I were working on the "art" package for Lost was that there were a lot of beautiful women in the show and that they needed to be represented in the pin's artwork. So we did just that! This was also meant to be a bit of a nod to the old days of pinball when women were routinely exploited in the artwork of numerous pins.

And yeah, the woman on the backglass for TOM is practically falling out of her outfit.

    PERFECTLY SAID ATOMICBOY!!!!

I'm a member of RGP too, but my first forum site I attached myself to was Pinside. There is a DISTINCT difference in the behavior 'over there', and I too don't want to see the likes of some of them coming here and not only tainting this wonderful forum site, but sabotaging it too with the filthy language and needless, antagonistic posts.

Case in point . . . as I was scrolling this site a few minutes ago, my married daughter and her 3 year old daughter came walking by, and my daughter said: "OMG! DAD! Are YOU sitting there looking at porn???!!!!" She was aghast at thinking I was on a 'porn hunt'! I had to explain . . .

I'm the first who loves a dirty joke and 'good' pictures, but this needs to be taken elsewhere. I have to say, I will miss it too! I have done my share of 'gazing' at some sexy photos on here, had some great laughs at some of the nasty pictures and jokes too.

It just won't be the same, but I think it is time for us to let it go . . . .

(I'd like to think I was one of the reasons it was installed in the first place! )
Once disabled you are now safe to view at work!
    Enjoy!

HA! WOW, check out them classic jubblies!!!
    Nice one NP.
As long as the option to opt out on pics it's all fair game. An NSFW tag is a nice courtesy, but please let's not get the holy-brigade all over the guy that forgets.

Woah...slow down there turbo. I said nothing about censorship. All I am saying is let's keep the family friendly atmosphere here. Boobie pics have their place...just at least label them as such with NSFW or put them in a seperate forum or master thread. Heck...sticky it for all I care (LOL...a "sticky" smut thread...I like that!). That's what I meant by warnings. If this was a porn/"risque" pic site, then obviously there's no need for that warning as you know what you are getting into by being on that site. Here, I am on a pinball site. I'm not expecting to see skin when I open up a thread that isn't labeled as such. If my 4 year old daughter happens to be on my lap at the time, I don't want to be explaining that. I shouldn't have to have that worry on a pinball site.

For those jumping to the conclusion that we are asking to not show pinball artwork, well you guys know better and are just trying to pick a fight. Grow up. You know that's not what we are debating here.

Unfortunately there are too many people getting defensive and misunderstanding the point of this thread, so there's really no reason to debate it further. It's Robin's site...what he says goes. I'll just have to be more careful about when/where I access this site, which is a damn shame.
