Found a game similar to one I grew up on and needed some advice on purchasing. There was very little additional information given to me over the phone regarding the condition of the Mustang game other than it worked after cleaning some contacts, all lights worked, then stopped working after awhile. They are asking 300 and since I have no familiarity with pinball other than playing I was wondering what I may be getting in to. I would like to have this game for my kids and visitors the way my grandparents had one for us. Thought? Just don't want to go buy something on raw emotion without any insight from people familiar with the scene.
Thanks,
Patrick

Thanks to all. I kind of just stumbled on this machine and wasn't really looking but the price and location intrigued me. I have the knack for tinkering and was looking in to cheap, entry level machine similar to one I grew up on. 300 smackers is my ceiling and I was plannning on offering 200. It appears as if I have 2 votes, 1 each way. Should I take to EM forum for further discussion?

Understood Cactus. Just got him to drop to 200..... May take on as a beginner project. I know that it's a slower more boring game but just really like the idea of having a sunctional pinball game as fun thing for my kids and visiotr and not hardcore playing. Not sure how concerned I am with the cosmetics either. Because I'm new to all of this...which is the backglass? Does it affect quality of play?b

Well, I did not heed the advice of the folks who said "bad idea" and made the impulse buy (primarily because $200 was all I can afford at the moment). I guess I'll make a run at the repair job and either way it'll be a learning experience. My next stop is over to the EM forum to begin my journey.

Thanks to all who responded! It's great to know that there are people out there willing to help those of us without a clue.

thanks again,
Patrick

lights come on, if I rotate the number of games to be played off of zero then I can hit reset and sometimes ball gets sent out to plunger. The scores continually try to zero. I shoot the ball and the score continually builds as the 100 pt relay fires nonstop. flippers work (weakly). Once the ball goes through the flippers it won't cycle back out to plunger. The guy who sold it to me said he was able to play the 3 ball game on a regualr bsais last year until the game just stopped.

In my opinion, the quarter reciever works, then I the plunger fires in the back of the machine that supposed to rotate number of games off zero but nothing happens afer the plunger fires. I'm assuming that's where I need to start....? After that it's the problem with the 100 point relay and score zeroing and on and on........

sorry about all of the newbie lingo, just getting up to speed on real parts names.

I did get a link to the start up sequence from another mustang link on this forum and will look in to that to understand things better. need to order a schematic as well. Any books you all reccomend?
