I just got my hands on a very, very nice Playmatic Space Gambler. I have everything working great, but one thing...the sound.

It seemed to produce some C3PO Star Wars sounds. But, it seems a little jumbled up and then would just be a constant high pitched tone, like an alarm. So, I have rebuilt the entire Bells Module, minus doing the precision cap and resistors. I also put in a new D flip flop on the driver board....no sounds at all now. Very odd.

Anyone have experience on working on these? Is there a way to test the bells module by stimulating the inputs?

Hey guys, I was in the process of rebuilding the driver board, and some of the chips I used were TTL and were supposed to be CMOS. So, I will try some new chips and get back. The only thing I have not replaced are the transistors. They are pretty obscure. Things like BC106A...

They used their computer cross reference and I have google searched to oblivion and some of these parts were scarce in the 70s

Ok, I think part of my problem is that the manual calls for 74c175 quad d flip flops and I used a 74als175...which is the low power schottky type. I am ordering the correct ones, and hope I am lucky.

The manual sucks bad. It calls for 3 LM324, and there are none in the circuit. It also asks for 1 of the above flip flops, and there are 4.
