From time to time I’m asked about playing pinball in Japan and locations that have them. Here are a few places to play.

Tokyo used to have a decent collection of pins, but has been becoming less and less over the years. Space is an issue and pinball machines take up loads of space. However, there is a store that actually sells Sterns near Omotesando, called Toy Sapiens: http://www.toysapiens.jp/english/

    Shinuya City Jingumae

They have a few machines to play there at 200 yen per game. Last time I was there, they had Batman 66, Star Wars pro and Guardians of the Galaxy, plus DP.

Also in Odaiba is about 8-10 old machines located at Odaiba decks in the same building as Joypolis Sega center (2nd floor). Here is a website showing some of the pinball machines located there: https://www.tokyocreative.com/articles/19597-odaibas-retro-video-game-arcade

There is a huge pinball museum in Osaka that has many machines to play. One of the best locations in all the world of well maintained pins. They have many machines modern and older. Called The Silver Pinball Planet: https://travel.gaijinpot.com/the-silver-ball-planet/

Osaka is the best in all of Japan for pinball. Believe me, I’ve scoped out most all places in Tokyo and there is not as much as there used to be, except what I’ve mentioned above. Yes, there are a few places that have 1 machine here and there, but that’s it.

First photo is from Odaiba near Tokyo and the rest at The Silver Pinball Planet:
