Snapped a 8-32 top 8-32 bottom post on my breakshot this week. Uses a 1/16th post sleeve, should be easy to replace right? Nope, not at all. You can use something similar, make something, or repair the original.

So, feel your pain. I think this weekend I am going to drill out the bottom of the post, tap it, put a new threaded rod in, all to fix something that should be common and easy to get.
