I am working on a Gottlieb Golden Arrow that sat in a garage for 20 years that was not temperature controlled. Although no water actually hit the playfield it suffers from moisture damage from the changing elements.

In most areas the paint remains fully intact but has lost the polished/varnished sheen and shine. In others the paint has begun to crack and lift off. Most of the unpainted wood is dull and looks unfinished.

As I begin to clean the playfield of its 20 years of dust and grime I am looking for tips on what to use to remove the dirt while doing as little damage to the paint as possible. Just as importantly, looking for tips on how to bring back the shiny finish to the playfield.

On undamaged playfields I have used with great success all the usual suspects; Novus, carnuba wax, pinwax, but was wondering if there was a recommended order of use, or other products I should be considering.

Thanks

Quoted from ForceFlow:

This should probably be step one,

I am assuming I would want to clean the playfield as best I could before clearcoat. Any suggestions of how to best and most gently go about that step?
