Any fellow Canadian pinsiders have suggestions on the best place to buy playfield glass? Shipping from international places is deadly and I assume the big name glass vendors aren't horribly competitive - ill be checking into them soon. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Did you try Crystal Glass, they could cut and temper a piece. It would be new and arrive in one easy to carry piece. For used call Dons Vending(check internet for business number), they may have some kicking around.

Didn't Don's vending go under? Wasn't he the one that owned the place on Calgary Trail? Used to have a lot of used pins. Wish that place was still around. It went under before I got the pinball fever.

I'd love to have a local place to try some pdi or invisiglass. All my games have standard glare glass.

We should start an Edmonton only club.

Dons Vending did not go under. The owner still has games on route. As far as I can tell, the buildings on Calgary Trail are leased out, to other companies. The owner has moved the business south Edmonton, and does sell machines on a regular basis. Their pins are for sale but you will not see any low prices. Their business plan now is low key and on a part time basis.

Cool. Where are they in S. Edmonton? I'd love to check them out!

Don died years ago. His wife is runnin the show and trying to sell extremely routed games like HS2 for 5000. She's trying to secure retirement I think. Tried to buy a coil from her and she wanted 25 dolla! She is in no rush to get rid of anything, don't waste your time IMO.

Yeah I'll be calling crystal glass when I go to pull the trigger on this... I have a feeling their price won't be terribly pleasant for a small quantity. Anyone else need tempered playfield glass haha.

There's a handful of us in Edmonton trying to build a "club". We're about 4 strong right now haha. Nothing serious, just meeting up to play every few weeks.

If there is a sale to Edmonton for a pin. I could ship glass along. Price is going up to $30 - $40 a sheet, tempered glass no logo. I have a small amount of old stock left. See kijiji ad for Halifax.

I get glass at $35 a sheet, wide or standard, tempered, no logo, non-polished edges. I do not ship though! Also have used sheets if interested.

Im in the market for 8 sheets?

    #12 10 years ago

Get a bunch of you guys together and I'll place a big order, and one trip to pick it all up.

Heck, I may just make the drive to Edmonton if someone's buying the beers and has some pins to play

    #13 10 years ago

I have lots of beer. Only 8 pins, but I keep them in nice shape...

    #14 10 years ago

I'm in for 2 sheets if we can get enough for an order. Purpledrilmonkey, you can make the club 5 strong now also. : )

    #15 10 years ago

One of you Alberta folk should organize the order, then let me know how many sheets and size (wide or standard). Order takes about two weeks. $35 a sheet (I will see if we can reduce it with a bulk order/how much that takes). I am ordering 10 for myself/other locals here.

Can you order any pdi or invisiglass from your supplier, or just tempered?

    #17 10 years ago

Just tempered as far as I know. I will check into that though.

    #18 10 years ago

Thanks. I'd love to try some non-glare glass out.

    #19 10 years ago

That reminds me smoke, I will want to grab some sheets from you when I'm there, probably 3 sheets.

    #20 10 years ago

Doubt I'll have any new, have not placed the order yet. I have a bunch of used though.

    #21 10 years ago

I get mine from Broco glass, just tell them what size and tempered, I prefer no logo as well. You're local glass shop should be able to do the same. Around 30-40bucks..

    #22 10 years ago

Thanks for all the pointers guys.

Hey since this kinda went a second direction I didn't anticipate, anyone in the Edmonton area who wants to get in on some casual playing/tinkering/bs'ing and perhaps the odd beverage, shoot me a message with your email and ill make sure you're included on anything our tiny but growing group is up to. It's time we had a stronger pinball community here! And by stronger I don't mean playing well - I know I don't haha

Started off with me and one guy meeting at pinburgh by chance, now we're up to 5 guys and something like 20-30 machines between all of us. Most machines even work haha

    #23 10 years ago

Hahaha if playing well was required for enjoying pinball , I would have been out long ago.

    1 week later
