Played Avengers Pro today at Gameworks. Overall I thought it was a good game but not great.
It was fun to play. Being a fan of the movie I really like the theme. I liked the iron man, capt America and iron man shots. Black widow ramp was hard but manageable sometimes from the right flipper. The spinning tesseract was better than excepted but didn't get much time on the game to understand what it does. Sorry.
The game had the Loki lock lights in the far upper left corner and didn't seem to work, although I only looked one ball so I was unable to see Loki Multiball. Thought the Hulk toy was cool except for one ball hangup one game by his arm which was moved by a ball search. Hulk Multiball was fun, was able to light him solid on the playfield. Game played well. I didn't think it was lightning fast to me but fast enough.
I didn't care for the Hulk taking up most of the voice on the game (at least the games I played). He did have some funny quotes but his voice wasn't what I was expecting. I didn't notice any combos during the game so I'm not sure if they are in the software. I started the capt America mode and was a little disappointed that you had to hit his shot repeatedly. The code felt very MB & XMen to me. The Hulk saucer was a bitch to get the ball in. I only had one ball go into the saucer and it was a ricochet off of hulk which very softy fell into the saucer.
Overall I liked he game but not enough to buy one. I do hope to play the game some more.

Good write up Tom and I think you deserve a bump on a busy Saturday. It's not for everyone but it's so freaking fun. You gotta get to beating Hawkeye...it does the old EM sounds!!

I'll get ripped on if I pump the game more since I own two. Which is sad...cause the game really does rock.

I've had ACDC Premium for 2 weeks and I've played maybe 6 games because of Avengers.

At least my ACDC playfield will hard coat well!

On the one at Gameworks, I ran into ball hangups on Hulk, often one per game.

Playing at the launch party last night in Chi-town, maybe one during the 6-10 games I played.

After playing the Pro some more, I find the Black Widow ramp isn't so bad. My shooting percentage on that was higher than the Hawkeye shot. After talking with George Gomez a bit, he said that the Black Widow ramp on the LE is even wider - the ramp piece is different.

Overall, as someone new to pinball (less than 1yr playing), its very tough. The shots are very tight. Makes AC/DC and Iron Man's shots look huge.

One thing I just didn't understand design wise is the spinner right at the entrance of he black widow ramp. Seemed to hold up the shot a few times. Didn't really see the purpose for it there but maybe software wise there was a good reason.

Ya it's not really incorporated into the rules and it does seem to hang up the ball at times. The best thing that can be done to the BW ramp is adding washers to the plastic protectors to raise them up. If you see my videos of avengers LE in the avengers video thread, you'll see the BW ramp is smoothe and fast. Very very fun and satisfying shot. But it is a tough shot. This game is not for novices IMO.
