Any water damage in this one? Not so long ago, you gave us this shriveled turd that’s still stuck in purgatory https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/146349

What is a platinum TZ?

Dave Lucas knack for picking the wrong powder coating color is a god given talent, a superpower even.

Add this platinum to the high end fish tales and the superb whitewater. It’s another home run for Dave Lucas

A $300 blue powder coat job that doesn’t even match the art and a crappy shooter rod makes this platinum?

I’ll take your word for the mint playfield since there are zero closeups.

Man I gotta work on my marketing.

Ps: Radcals suck.

My guess is it’s a Platinum blue maybe?

#7 1 year ago

Blue cabinet armor - pass
Blue wireforms - total pass
Blue clock housing - pass
Blue gumball machine - why? - pass
Colored GI LEDs - hard pass

So... nope, not the nicest I had ever seen.

Radcals suck! Gasp! - prepare to agree to disagree. Unless you mean they suck because they don’t always line up.

I can’t say I love these Radcals… but I love the ones on my Indy

To each their own. It is a bold choice… I am not sure if I have ever seen a powder coated TZ (of any color). Most of the restored ones I have seen have been done in chrome.

I mean if you were going to powder coat a TZ… other than maybe black… what would be the right color?

The problem with the blue and black combo is that the colors don’t match.

obvious he's color blind!

Posting out of focus and cloudy photos doesn’t help your case.

#17 1 year ago

You know what they say about over indulgence it’s never good.

#18 1 year ago

no
For that price it needs new cabinet, new playfield, and to be done with taste
Good luck

#20 1 year ago

Wow… this makes me realise I can sell my jet black prototype TZ for at LEAST 20K..

Dave Lucas is the "Pimp My Ride" of the pinball world. Theres a reason the Pimp my ride cars don't sell for much of anything lol.

(Pre-Levi cargument engaged)

#23 1 year ago

Gt a CPR mirrored backglas, which IMHO is far, far too blue, and you could have the only ALL BLUE Twilight Zone! Whohoo!

#24 1 year ago

Anyone have a gold or diamond edition for sale?

#25 1 year ago
Quoted from timtim:

Simple math.
T= 6 · 7

#26 1 year ago

At these prices please include more pictures, especially of the playfield (shooter lane, in lanes, scoops, etc), and take them at a higher resolution.

I would have considered it for $850 after Tavarish was done with it, but not a dime more

Wow, this makes me wonder what a pristine 100% original prototype would bring??

Why does it make you wonder that?

#32 1 year ago

No corners cut!

Uses radcals.

#33 1 year ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Why does it make you wonder that?

Well, I recall that $50k proto TZ thread a few years back but thinking about it more, it was not pristine so this Platinum edition could be in that class if it maybe had a little more powder coating and a 3rd magnet!!!

I feel like there needs to be a minimum amount of pictures required for classified ads on Pinside. Blows my mind to see someone trying to sell something for 17.5K and they post 3 blurry pictures. Who seriously wants video? Was talking to my father about trading for a game and he asked if I Facetimed the guy to see it. I can't see what value I would get from that. I want HQ pictures I can zoom in, scrutinize, and ask for additional pictures as needed.

I don't think we need more pictures to know this is a rip off lol

#36 1 year ago

... why were some of the photos removed from the ad? Particularly the one of the front of the coin door where the playfield was up and you could see the drill sitting in the not really so very clean looking cabinet interior?

#37 1 year ago
Quoted from titanpenguin:

I'd be happy with a tin foil edition myself.

#38 1 year ago

Unloading before CGC announces their remake no doubt.

He sucks!

#40 1 year ago

I would make a list of why this is not the nicest TZ I have ever seen but it’s bedtime

#41 1 year ago

Still looking for a gold or diamond edition TZ. Pm me what you got!

#42 1 year ago

Why the awful powder coating? Going with the crazy colors is like rainbow puke LEDS

#43 1 year ago

The slot machine standup on this thing is literally destroyed and you can see the scoop is hammered on the left side. "No issues" yeah whatever.

And what the hell is going on with the left side of the right ramp, what is that dark blue crud? And.. you actually powdercoated the ramp flap?? And replaced it with a smaller one, leaving marks visible on the playfield?

This "resto" is a train wreck.

#44 1 year ago

Say what you want about the pin colors, quality, and the asking price. To a degree, it’s all subjective to taste. (Not my taste, but who knows what money and tastes are ‘out there’)

The most perplexing thing for me is that this seller still posts his ads in the forum for comments. Evidently he’s trying to limit his pool of buyers to Pinsiders with very niche taste, without a good eye for quality, and don’t read the forum comments.

#45 1 year ago

I like how he added extra lights to the slingshots and only the right side one has the chrome shroud, so you can kinda decide if you like it or not and then buy another one for the left side if you do.

I wish more sellers would leave things like that so I can decide myself. Kinda wish he's only powdercoated half of it. Great seller!

Likely he didn't take the time or effort to remove the flap before powdercoating. Ain't nobody got time to drill out rivets and replace them when you're trying to polish a turd in the worst way possible.

The sad thing is, that someday this will probably sell (locally?) to some chump who doesn't know any better and he'll think he really has something special, not knowing that he just got taken for a ride with the ol used car lot special.

Friends don't let friends buy a Dave Lucas "restore"
