So I'm going to be in Helsinki for work next week, and I should have some free time, so is there any pinball to be played in the city? I looked up the IFPA calendar and I didn't see any tournaments or anything scheduled (it's always awesome to drop in on a league in another city and meet some other pinheads), but there does seem to be a scene there. Anywhere that I should try to check out?

As long as I'm asking, anyone else have recommendations for things to see/do while I'm there? Looks like I'll have most of a day free before I have to leave next Friday.

    Hi!

Not that many places open to public to play I am afraid, but have a look here:
    https://www.facebook.com/Extraballpelihalli
    https://www.facebook.com/funngamespelihalli/?fref=nf

Neither of them are places with high volume of pins, but they do have some
    machines to play.

    Hi Chris,
Welcome to Helsinki. Yes there some places where you can play pinball. Mainly I'd recommended to you now is amusement park Linnanmäki https://www.linnanmaki.fi/en. There is GoT, SM Vault, Metallica Pre, StarTrek Pro. Linnanmäki is open every night and free admission. Next to the game room is a fun area for skill games https://www.linnanmaki.fi/en/rides-and-games/taitopelit Try Derby! There's also performing artist playing alive and next Friday Tuomo is playing there at 7pm. He is well known artist at jazz-funk scene around the world http://www.tuomomusic.com/

You can find more pins from Pinradar / Flipperitutka http://www.flipperit.net/flipperitutka/find.pl?pinname=&locname=&city=Helsinki&days=&sort=pinname&dir=asc&x=49&y=13 Check out the date before you travel too far

Thanks for the tip-that place was actually about a 15 min walk from my hotel, so I stopped by and played for a while this evening. Very interesting having a park like that right in the city. Anyway, games are actually in really good shape-it's been a while since I was out somewhere playing on location on my own. GOT is a premium, and worked really well except for one switch issue where the right flippper was triggering a 10 pt switch somewhere. No idea which one, but it only really seemed to be an issue getting the status report. Managed to get just shy of GCing it, and saw a bunch of the game that I'd never seen before. SM Vault is neat, but the volume is a little low, so I couldn't tell whether the new sounds were any better than in the original video. Didn't play much of it, since I own a spidey already, and can play that whenever I want. ST premium was also working pretty well, but there seemed to be something up with the launch button sticking (since it would seemingly trigger at random when a ball started). Otherwise a solid machine though, and I managed to get to KM twice on it

Probably not the most "Finnish" thing to do, but it was a way to kill an hour and change for 6 euros, and play some location games for the first time in ages. Extra balls all of a sudden matter a whole lot more (most of the time I'm playing league, so no EBs).

It's Thursday night, I'd recommend checking out the nightlife in Helsinki...
