I have not researched this I just wondered if there were any places worth driving to for the pinball playtime? I would be willing to drive if it were worth it. A fun thing for a boring Saturday.

GameWorks in schamburg usually has 5 to 7 pin on hand. Thats the only big place I know of other then a few here and there.
Sadly, the town that was once the Mecca of pinball has become pretty dry when it comes to machines on location. They truly are few and far between these days. If you are willing to drive about five hours, however, there is an awesome place near St. Louis called CP Pinball. Here's a list of their current pin lineup:

The place is generally only available for private parties, but there are certain days each month where they are open to the public.
there is a jukebox, pinball, and other stuff at a show saturday at Pheasant Run in ST.Charles here is the link. they always have pins to play and for sale.
Here's a map for chicago.
There's also iPod and Droid apps for this map, so you can make updates, add high scores and pictures "in the field". Good luck!
Funway in Batavia has 5 or 6 pins
Tatman - I was thinking about going to that show. Have you been before?
I went last year they have alot of other stuff. great american pinball has a booth there. last year there was about 30 pins or so. Always fun to just look around never know what you will find. I am going saturday morning. I am looking for a junk yard or a lotr.
I agree with gweempose about CP pinball. I travel to Chicago pretty often and I assumed that they would have a lot of places for pinball. To my surprise there was almost nothing. The best I could come up with was a bar called the ten cat tavern with a Tales from the Crypt and an Elvis. I was shocked at the lack of pinball up there.
I have been to CP Pinball a couple of times and it is great. Everything is set to free play and they are work really well. For me it is about a 2 hours drive and it is well worth it.
