Yeah so did you know at one point Pintastic could have been relocated to a college? Or a casino making Roger Sharpe laugh his butt off? Colleges are pretty empty during the Summer. Yes bizarre I know but the entire event would have cost you around $200 and you could pitch up a tent and barbeque on a football field. I coined it "Pinball Disneyland". Each building would have it's own theme like Tomorrowland, etc. Casino's have a lot of adults that have money, nice rooms, food and non-pinball activities.
We have multiple reasons why we didn't go those routes and I'm posting that to show that we think up crazy stuff all the time. A lot of is what we observe at the show or spitball and ask ourselves "is it feasible, how would it work, would people want it". Staff has meetings and teleconferences year round. Near the show sometimes on our lunch breaks at work sending texts, e-mails, etc. Often these teleconferences last 2+ hours on like a Thursday night. We just don't get a building, fill it with games and say "have at it". The podcaster panel I started thinking of during last years Pintastic when I met Sarah for the first time (Mrs Pin). I remember because it was a Saturday and I had an idea of a giant smorgasbord of podcasters just saying whatever came first to their mind in a drunkenly hilarious panel. It started growing even more during Pinburgh, scheduling, working with people until where we are at today. I mean the Willy Wonka thing alone is this new experimental thing that I would have never thought Charlie Bucket was living in upstate NY. We have to work closely with JJP and JJP has to work with the licensure, not picking up Veruka in a Uber.
It's a lot of work! I went to TPF this past March and it certainly will not be my last. I may actually move to TX because of that experience. However that show will likely need to move to a larger venue even because it has become so big. They were selling ear plugs because it was so loud. However you couldn't walk around in your PJ's while drinking a craft beer at 2AM. Meanwhile you are playing Oktoberfest while everybody is sleeping and it's just you on Free Play with no line. Our panels are filmed and hopefully streamed in HD one day like a PAX East event. The questions we ask the panelists are also very unique instead of "well how did you get into playing pinball". We come prepared and a lot goes right and a lot goes wrong every year but often people don't notice. That's part of the magic though. 
No, next year the new location is in a very quiet hotel that resembles the current location a lot only that it's much nicer and bigger. Podcasters or vendors/distributors/manufacturers will also love the new location as we have some additional private rooms. There are line drops from the ceiling for example. The new location better serves VT, NH, MA (especially from Logan), RI. The only people it doesn't serve better is CT slightly and NY/NJ/PA, etc. This is a show for New England for our families first and foremost. We already have some ideas for next year and worked on that during TPF this year. Some stuff we have been working on for multiple year's and continue to do so. There will be promotional stuff for next year of course. I know it will involve my drone flying outside (a drone capturing footage of a pinball convention....man are we nerds in New England).
We plan to make a big bang as we exit Sturbridge and this years show foreshadows what we have looking forward. It's a lot like leaving the old PAPA HQ.

Better layout (all rooms are closer together)
Very nice on site restaurant.
Double the free parking.
Doubling our over all rooms with sister hotel and free shuttle.
Same hotel feel as Sturbridge.
Lots more to come but first let’s blow up Sturbridge one more time lol
I'm trying to get a game together for the free play area, see if I can keep hustling and get it done in time.

The current home base is cool because it allows you to party if you're fairly discreet, but the rooms force ya to stay off the property, so a new venue should be a welcome change for show goers.
The liquor store sharing the parking lot at Sturbridge has come in awefully handy
I'm sure that everyone complaining about the drive is going to whine for a year, then make the extra drive to the show. Growing pains are good, it means Gabe is thinking of the future of the show and trying to make everyone more comfortable. There have been plenty of times it would have been nice to stumble up to a nicely remodelled room without travelling to get there.

I just got my Freddy NMOES running and registered. It needs some tweaking, but definitely should be ready for the show. This may be my record for the longest shop job, just couldn't find the motivation to wrap this one up. So damn busy with kids sports I've had no time for anything else. Looking forward to 3 days of pinball! I'm puling my Hot Hand out of storage tomorrow to give it a quick shop job. That one will be priced to move, I've brought it 3 years now and it hasn't been set up since the last year, so I don't plan on taking it home again. I registered 2 more games, I will likely only be able to bring one of them. A routed, but modded Spiderman, and a Rollergames. I'm leaning toward bringing the Rollergames, but Spidey hasn't been getting much play. I'd love to turn it into an Iron Man. I also have a fully restored Funhouse I'm considering bringing, but only with a deposit. PM me for details.

Anyhoo, I'm glad you're moving.
Sturbridge was ok for me to stay overnight but that place is crap and refused to put my wife and kid through that.
Last year and this year were/will only have been Saturday visits with the fam.
With better accommodations on the horizon, I'm already planning a Friday-Saturday overnight 
Long shot but would love to find a cocktail pin in good condition, preferably something like a Night Moves.
This will be my first Pintastic. Can’t wait. When the show moves to Boxborough I plan to stay multiple nights.

i am confused as far as when the show ends - in the past we all were there loading our games up as the prizes were giving away on a saturday night - now i see sunday is the last day of the show. i know you bring a lot of games and since you are saying sat night, i am confused if it's saturday night or sunday afternoon for the end of the show. thanks ed

A machine must still be on the floor Saturday night (at 9pm?) to be eligible for entry into the raffle. Once they verify the machine is on the floor the raffle begins and people can start to pack up the machines they brought. Last year there were a couple dozen games there until the end of Sunday, I know a few people (super casual pinball fans) who only went on Sunday and had a good time.

When games arrive for the Free Play room, we ask the bringer if they can commit to leave some or all through the end of the show on Sunday afternoon. Each game that stays to the end earns one additional Bonus Point, so it's a great for the person who is 1-2 points shy of a particular prize level.

#1-3 are data east doors - at least I think based upon some internet digging.

We don't have all the Genco games in our Games database, or lots of other older games, but we go in and add games when they get registered. When you enter the game name and manufacturer, suggestions will pop up, but you don't need to accept one of the suggestions from the list. But if the correct game IS one of the suggested ones, you should definitely pick it from the list.
Hardly any video games or EM arcade pieces are in the database. We just add those as they show up.
