This board gives me some great ideas for HSII.
How about a little "Sharp Dressed Man" instead of "La Grange"?

I am interested to see the quality of changes and evaluation when a Stern compatible version is released.
I might even install one in my MET.

I just installed one in my Whitewater, and it is NOT the sound quality I am most impressed with overall. It is the modularity of components and design. It so much reminds me of the Stern SPIKE system in terms of functionality. The ability to refigure it, makes it an asset for testing too.

I hope the price some day comes down because retrofitting an entire large collection is just too damn expensive

Quoted from Pmaino:

Has anyone used the pinsound with upgraded speakers(PP or FF)?
Worth getting the speakers or is the pinsound enough?

You need upgraded speakers.
If you are using 20 year old speakers, they sound like crap.
If you are using Stern current speakers, they sound like crap.
If you are spending $400 for PinSound, the rest of makes sense.

Bump on this. Does anyone have any leads/answers for me? I would really like to get it sorted out asap!

You need to contact the designers.
Why are you not asking the source?
Parlez-vous Francais?

The board was not originally directed for external sub speakers but the integrated audio speakers of the machine itself. The line out function is probably not allowing dual outputs. One or the other. You are bypassing the design of the board.

Quoted from Pmaino:

Which ones do you recommend?

I use Pinball Pro, but you are going to need anti-rattle, and keep the volume controlled because you can still blow out speakers if careless

I know one 100% reason to buy another PinSound board.
When they "iron out the wrinkles" with modern Stern machines and board design and start cranking on re-orchestrations, I will be first in line.
Games like AC/DC, Metallica, and KISS, will greatly benefit from its implementation.
Imagine using the remastered versions of these songs?
Of course that means in the case of KISS, the game actually gets design corrected and code improved first...

I finally got around to recording my custom mix for Guns N Roses. Will likely upload the mix shortly to pinsound. Video doesn't capture all the music since I have multiple tracks for main music, etc but it's a very good representation. Very happy with the card and now with the data east issues fixed, I can def recommend getting this. If you have a music based table, it's a must have. Upgrade your speakers too (mine are pinball pro). Enjoy.

What is going on with the frozen MKII screen? Do you not worry about monitor burn (if you added pause function)?

I did like the mix.

Quoted from delt31:

It's actually the desktop background for my mame machine. The cabinet has been designed to look just like MK2 and I leave a picture on there as a backdrop so it seems "on" all the time.
Here is a video of the mame machine in action. It's a must have if you grew up with arcades!

"I see says the blind man".
Unfortunately, all my arcade games were sold over 10 years ago, including my Exidy gun games and T2 Arcade.

Quoted from mollyspub:

is there a noticeable sound improvement without upgrading the speakers right away ?

"Yes."

This is of course unless your speakers are blown out or have ripped cones, fairly common on games over 20+ years old.
It partially is also dependent on the quality of the remix samples for individual titles, which is exclusively up to the designer.
There is a simple way to check the last condition.
Download the remix sample set (it is free with registration), unpack, and listen to them on your computer through your headphones (preferably) or speakers.
Compare using the original sound set via download and extraction, and you will be able to tell the difference in quality and stereo amplification.
Make your own decision impartially.

The price of this board needs to come down a bit before it can go mainstream for most collectors, unless their soundboard is completely missing or trashed. All boards can still be repaired, and is hell of lot cheaper right now.
Some manufacturer games benefit more than others, such as Data East, where the sound quality/sampling/sound selection was just awful, repetitive, and recycled from other DE games.
Star Wars and GnR both come into my mind right now, PinSound "fixed" the sound sets.
