I was just curious how many Death Metal fans were on pinside, I love all music but Death Metal since the late 80's has been a favorite genre of mine. I'm starting with this Six feet Under song and great compilation video. ENJOY

#4 8 years ago
Quoted from Leeb18509:

I've got a few CD's in my collection from back when I was experimenting a lot. It makes me laugh a little when I think, did I shell out $12.99 for a 3rd Obituary record? Really?!?
Is that Ninja Scroll in your Avatar?

Yes sir. One of my favorite films, not just Japanamation of all time. So great.

#5 8 years ago
Quoted from QuarterGrabber:

I love death and black metal. Six Feet Under is a bit main stream for me, especially since they did that car commercial. When I was younger I went to A TON of death and black metal concerts in Toronto. Cradle of Filth, Mortous, Mortician, Immolation, Angel Corps, Hoard of Worms, just to name a few of the many I went to.
» YouTube video

Quater Grabber I hardly knew thee. I was at some of those shows, SixFeet under has a handful of great songs which is kinda what most DeathMetal bands are like for me but when they are great they are really great.

#20 8 years ago
Quoted from Frax:

Good lord...haven't heard that term since Cartoon Network imported their first shows.....was Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, and something else I can't quite remember...
*Edit* Nevermind, it was Akira. Duh.

What about Fist of the North Star, that was a great one.

#21 8 years ago
Quoted from canea:

it's still pretty tough to beat some Vader when you feel like it.

Agreed.

#33 8 years ago
Quoted from dung:

Sorry, but this has me laughing. I know he is trying to be hardcore, but I just feel like its a special ed kid trying to sing.

Thats OK, it makes me laugh too but in a good way. Thats Glen Benton and hes not trying to be hardcore believe me. What do you listen to, not being defensive as I like classical first and foremost with DMetal and Funk, jazz and fusion etc. all following I'll give you an example.

Heres a great take on a Cannibal Corpse song.

#65 8 years ago

Morbid Angel, Entombed, Bolt Thrower, Benediction, Cannibal Corpse, Unleashed, Deicide, Autopsy, Obituary and ofcourse Death. I miss the 90's. Heres a great one from Celtic Frost founder triptykon is the band. One of my favorite songs.

#66 8 years ago

The first few albums from these guys were awesome.

#67 8 years ago

Six feet under. The last album went a little to nucore or whatever you call it but this song and the entire album "UNDEAD" was incredible.

#114 8 years ago

Good band, my personal fav from this album.

#115 8 years ago

Great Six Feet Under from the Death Rituals album, a little bit of a Sabbath feel which is never a bad thing.

#118 8 years ago

This was a gateway band for me, classic album. Re-animation was something special, great tune.

#119 8 years ago

#120 8 years ago

#124 8 years ago

One of the greatest DeathMetal bands for sure. This whole album is amazing.

#128 8 years ago

never heard of these guys till a couple weeks ago, good stuff.

#131 8 years ago

Sorry but Dimmu Borgir isn't Death Metal in my opinion. I would say theatre metal cabaret but not Death Metal, this is Death Metal

#133 8 years ago

Mayem and Gorgoroth are more Black Metal to me than that band, too much piano and opera singing for me, don't get me wrong I like opera but not mixed with metal. JMO

#136 8 years ago

Thats fair, I really don't listen to black metal so I shouldn't judge it anyway. Thrash and death is what I love the most and oldschool at that, the new stuff like Cattle Decapitation and Dying fetus is too much for me I like the groove to be there to some degree.

Quoted from Pinball_Nate:

Mortification - great band, and a CHRISTIAN death metal group - wow.

Yeah wow is right, as in wow is that ever wrong. The demons and corpses, satan and the like? kinda integral but hey you could always go back to hair metal, maybe Poison is a little more ur thang.

bret_michaels_3 (resized).jpgbret_michaels_3 (resized).jpg

#261 7 years ago
Quoted from Pinball_Nate:

Mortification is a great band, I didn't even realize their Christian intent until reading about them.
I'd like to see a "fun" death metal band that doesn't take themselves so seriously

That's ok you didn't realize it so burn all ur Mortification CD's and then take a bath in vinegar for 2 to 3 hours, after that listen to nothing but Bolt Thrower for one year and you should be fine. Most of these bands don't take themselves all that seriously, its actually based in "fun" most of these guys aren't killers or Satanists its just nice wholesome fun. Watch some interviews of Death Metal bands/musicians they are funny guys who like me prefer the darkside of the force, doesn't mean I want to kill people, well.............

Heartwork is overrated brotha.

love it. for me with most albums not just death metal give me 2 or 3 songs I love and thats all I need, rarely do I like a whole album in fact almost never. No love lost and Heartwork make it gold to me.

#381 6 years ago

#386 6 years ago
Quoted from Gryszzz:

but everyone's always like OH HEARTWORK

"everyone" can and will ruin things, they have for me many times, stay as far away from "everyone" as you can, Let us not forget "everyone" thinks Metallica is a still heavy.
I'm really looking forward to the new Morbid Angel with my preferred vocalist, I have a feeling its going to be greatness.

#448 6 years ago

I'd like to invite anyone to say anything they want and u can put down bands I like or someone else likes without issue, feel free to use the terms "suck" "garbage" "thats shit" or even "you must be wearing womens underwear becasue that shit is fem" all combinations of said terms and or vulgarity are appreciated, theres nothing u can do that will cause me to contact the mods because I don't care at all and at the same time will almost undoubtedly be entertained by the attempt. Oh feel free to bring in other topics like "evil statues" "horror films" really anything doesn't have to be evil and other types of music you like, its all good. I will say this, if you do bring something in music or whatever be prepared for an onslaught of verbal abuse if I find it to be ridiculous or terrible (ex: Killswitch Engage) I encourage this behavior mind you and I guess you have figured out I'm quite mad, wouldn't want it any other way. Heres something that always made me feel warm and tingly.

Six Feet Under Undead album not sure if you know it, if you don't check it out. My favorite Death Metal band for sure.
