Quoted from Barr993:

Saw them in Philly last week and they killed it.
Songs from the new album are still stuck in my head since the show.

Saw the Atheist / Cynic show in Cleveland a few weeks ago. The place was called “No Class” which was awesome. TINY avenue, no A/C - complete old school vibes. Atheist’s bus broke down so I got to hang out with the guys until the backup arrived. I had to do a 6 hour drive home that night to be back in time for work. Made it! (Mostly/ kinda) Unbelievably great dudes. The new band is SLAYING.

Ha!

Last month took a weekend trip to Pomano Beach to catch a show of Obituary's Florida swamp tour (and to visit moms too). It was at a bar in a small strip mall for like $25 a head...crazy. They killed it of course.

As Barr993 said, they recently did a 5 day "Swamp Tour" in Florida playing at local bars. It was bad ass.

Currently halfway through Choosing Death. Great read on origins of death and grind.
So when I say Tardy started it all, I don't mean literally.
That was Napalm Death, and the 15 yrs old kids in Possessed.
But when Tardy's vocals got out, EVERYONE wanted to sound like him.

I managed to DJ an Obituary gig in Perth WA back in the day. World Demise tour. Still find it awesome/funny that it was the first album Tardy had lyrics for. You'd never really know he had none for the first albums.

Almost my favorite album of all time

Seminal classic!!
Steve Jones doing the double guitar tracking in the studio, by ear, on tape, in one take. I applaud you sir. Those riffs he came up with, and that guitar sound as well.
Then I followed Lydon into PiL. Both bands are so influential, on the people others talk about, who they are going on about being influential.

Changing the subject. Just scored Napalm Death tix. And the Cattle Decap support here is Fallujah. Nice!

I freaking love Jones's guitar tone on this album...did not know that about the recording. That album was my intro to punk in 1987 lol.
Dude. Barney and Napalm Death put on a fuckin BANGER of a show. Yer in for a treat.

Ooh. Yes. This is a brag. But. I HAVE TO!

Along with friends I saw Gwars last ever gig with Dave Brockie. It was at Soundwave festival in Perth. It was brilliantly insane, frenetic and awesome fun. Dave was imperious. I had fake blood on me for the rest of the day. I got free beers from guys in the crowd who knew what it was, but couldn't go because of their women not wanting to see them. Couldn't get a tour shirt after their set finished for love nor money. 1 of my largest "gig regrets".

I'll be seeing them again on their latest tour. Dave was the better front man IMO but obviously is no longer with us. I always liked GWAR for their stage presents but the music is more Rock n Roll than metal to me. Not sure if you have ever seen or heard of the band Ghoul? They are like GWAR but much heavier in sound.

In the end, that's cool you saw that show and as far as the two bands go, that's a personal preference I suppose.
