Yep, it's time for this discussion and maybe it will be a short one. It just bums me out when I am reading ratings and any pin receives a 1, even a 10 for that matter. I'm sorry if you rated objectivity there shouldn't be these extremes.

I don't frequent Pinside as much lately, but I know the formula has changed over the years, or I think it has.

Can anyone chime in on how it's calculated. If it isn't I would suggest a trimmed mean (I think that's what it's referred to) Basically you take the set of numbers then throw out a portion of the extreme top and bottom numbers. Maybe 5 or 10% on both sides.

I think most Pinsiders do rate games honestly, but these flat 1's (if they are figured in) are complete BS and don't do the Top 100 any favors.

That's what the bogus review flag is for, use it!

I do, but does it figure the ratings based on my preference. To me, it's the point. They are bogus reviews.

I'm pretty sure it only changes what you see, not everyone. Not sure though. This thread is better suited for the Pinside Feedback subforum than All Pinball, as well.

There are always going to be people trying to mess with the ratings for one reason or another. It's not worth stressing about.

It's done by a bunch of clowns that grew up playing video games and decided to switch to pinball over the last few years.

I think the ratings system is flawed. I also don't care that it is flawed. I like the pin games I like, not the ones other people decide they like or don't like.
