I don't do the Facebook, so this is my place to laugh at people that take themselves WAY too seriously.
A place that makes me feel like my addiction ain't that bad. 
In all seriousness. A source. For priceless information, camaraderie, and games that I want.
For some: A place to learn and a resource to buy, sell, get tech advice.
For others: I place to police pricing/profits, get offended and complain and nit pick over things that should be so low on the totem poll in their life it isn't worth bickering about.

AGREED! But I do come here as a resource to fix my own pin problems. Nobody around me to help, so gotta do it myself. The negativity is something you have to get used to. You'd think a site like this (for people who supposedly love pinball) wouldn't attract so many people that hate pinball.
I laugh at the people that get so bent out of shape when someone else doesn't agree with them. Life is too short. Enjoy the hobby! Opinions will vary, get over it and move on.
A great place for tech threads and entertainment.
All the tech people are the best. What a treasure trove of great info.
And if you don't get into arguments over new games this place is great.
People who left obviously just could not overlook the trolls.

I agree with the increased negativity comments. I've only been here 2 years and it feels much different today than when I joined - and it's hard not to get sucked in.
.. a place where you can bad-mouth every pinball manufacturer except Spooky. That'll get the mods on you REAL fast.

Nah. Pinside is no different then life in general. I ignore the bullshit and the assholes. And don’t be a dick and people might like you.
Pinside is pretty much the only forum I use anymore. Its my source of entertainment, education and amusement. It allows me to catch up on the latest and greatest and keep in touch with distant friends. It also helps identify those I would prefer to stay away from - like beelzeboob. I kiid!

Maybe the percentage of assholes is the same but most people wouldn't talk to another person face to face like they do around here.
