Quoted from Black_Knight:

Maybe the percentage of assholes is the same but most people wouldn't talk to another person face to face like they do around here.

I agree but that’s any news group. Not just Pinside.

#52 6 years ago
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Nah. Pinside is no different then life in general.

Now you're just making me want to kill myself.

Quoted from beelzeboob:

Woo hoo!

#54 6 years ago
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

And don’t be a dick and people might like you.

Guess that leaves me out.

#55 6 years ago

A skid mark in my skivies.

...a product that has exceeded my expectations.

He has a crappy job where there is no money or respect. His looks could crumble a mountain. His pinball skills pathetic (taste, play or restore). The only thing he has going for him is a wife that will one day wake up and join the nunnery yet still never feel Clean.

This is all he's got

... a place we would all like to see beelzboobie free

I check in here probably 30 times a day. Whenever I have downtime I need to check in and see if taxman and the boob are ready to kill each other or someone is spelling something wrong.

It's a great place to learn what to do and what not to do. It's also great entertainment most of the time.

#62 6 years ago

A price guide

#63 6 years ago

... addictive. It's where I spend a lot of time reading and a little time speaking.

a place where i spend (waste) way too much time on,
but love it anyway.

#65 6 years ago

place you can comiserate with other pinball addicts...its great. Also the home of about 12-16 huge dooshbags. These clowns make me feel better about myself so I frequent their lonely rhetoric..

#66 6 years ago

It's my Samwise Gamgee...

or maybe more like another scotch for the evening.

An invaluable resource available especially when your interested in adding a game to your collection. Also a great place to move along a game you not necessarily want to let go of but may "need" to if you want to try out the next one....

#69 6 years ago

The place where you get a badge and go after the for sale threads....

#70 6 years ago

A place where I can feel free to talk about this awesome hobby...oh and to help justify how much money I've burned on it.

...a place full of debate & fun but mostly it's filled with Russian bots. Come to think of it, all y'all could be bots. Is this real life?

HHHAAAHHA!
Oh.. sorry. I thought you meant the price on a game...

Fun, very useful, sometimes amazingly comical, and great for reading during the quiet times at home.

Wow I know beelzeboob is usually the butt of alot of jokes (he takes it and it's funny) but I almost feel bad for him lol. Beelzeboob thanks for being that sense of humor around here. Alot of us need that and you play that role perfect

#77 6 years ago

A wealth of knowledge and getting news on new releases.

#78 6 years ago

Honestly... a place that has facilitated meeting a bunch of real life friends, acquaintances, and dicks. Those categories tend to overlap quite a bit, but I like it that way.

even with its bumps and bruises, pinside is still the best place to hang out, chat, and even take pinball a little too serious (so long as you remember it is all just pinball)

#79 6 years ago

not Aussie Arcade.

Nothing else matters.

#80 6 years ago

By far the best site covering all things Pinball - Database, Owners, Market, Forum, Rating, all combined in a very nice Layout.
I would go as far and say Pinside is to Pinball the same thing as Google is for the Internet.

#81 6 years ago

Couples therapy.

My wife says all I do is think about pinball and she's sick of hearing about it

#82 6 years ago
Quoted from beelzeboob:

...very nearly a thing of the past. The negativity towards nearly every game is getting overwhelming. Sometimes I'd just rather stay off Pinside and remember why I love pinball without people shitting on every awesome thing that comes along.

Found it ironic this was by far the most negative comment up to this point thereby making this thread more negative

#83 6 years ago

A place to talk with pinball addicts as myself.

#84 6 years ago

A place to share my passion for pinball and get help from those who know what they're doing

Perfect...nuff said

Not the same forum I originally signed onto, back then you could ask a question or mention a pin and not be burnt down for doing so.

Do you think that mirrors the direction our society is moving in general, or is it something else?

#89 6 years ago

Something I read several times a day for fun. An enjoyable way to visit with my Pinball friends and acquaintances.

#90 6 years ago

Informative, educational and entertaining

Yes I do. Courtesy in general is virtually non-existent in todays society.

My mom was an elementary school teacher from 1965-1997. She was 25 when she started and 57 when she retired. She noticed a big change during that time, just in how parents and their kids interacted with teachers and principals. It used to be that if there was a problem with a kid at school, the parents would back the teacher, and the kid would be disciplined. Now it seems to be 180* from that. Parents defend their kids, 'my little Beezleboob would NEVER do or say something like that!' The kids are in control and there is no discipline. Beezleboob, you're a teacher, right? Or at least involved some way in education? Have you seen the same thing?

So what I enjoy about Pinside is not only talking about pinball and learning about how to fix and maintain my machines, and also learn a little something about the business of pinball. I like the interaction with the other Pinsiders, and being able to talk about some other things. I know that can be a bit of a slippery slope, and people certainly have a wide range of diverse opinions. But there is a lot of wisdom we can all take advantage of that applies not only to pinball, but to life in general. The trick is to get everyone to remember that everyone is entitled to have an opinion, and to remember to be respectful of other people's opinions, even if we do not agree with them. Hell, having differing opinions is how you improve and make things better. If we all had the same opinion about everything, we'd never get anywhere. Plus, what fun would that be?

There is a way to argue a point without making it personal. And I think that brings this back to the original point you were making about how the culture of Pinside has shifted over the years.

I'm going to get trounced for this, aren't I. Oh well.

I agree. I have two middle school kids and it is disgusting how some people raise their kids. No personal accountability.
Unfortunately, boob does have an influence on today's youth, but that's a whole 'nuther topic

I think for all of the grief that he endures on this site (which he admittedly claims to enjoy), from what I understand he's a helluva good educator.

He's teaching them to make armpit fart noises this week. Nothing like a New Jersey education.

Pretty cool, it's another thing to fill in the space at work when I'm not working or on Facebook!
Oh and I like Pinball so...

#98 6 years ago

Not as much fun as banning. But available this morning.

A place where I can come and chill in peace without someone asking for an autograph or picture every minute.
