Recently I had to order a generic rubber ring kit for a game I am working on. I wanted to order individual rings from Titan but they did not have my machine in their database -- which is customer supplied by preference of colors.

I did not find a reference here on Pinside, so I thought Id try to start one. I will list quantity/size of rings for the games I have gone thru recently. Feel free to add the same for other games. Perhaps this will make ordering easier for those who do not want a generic kit, want to mix the colors up a little bit, or go with Titan's silicone.

Edit -- 11/2018
Opening up the thread to include bulb counts, fuses, post counts, etc. Working on updating already listed games but welcome the addition to new ones or any additional information.

I think a central rubber ring database would be super useful.

Titan's implementation is great for what it is, and i have used it multiple times with great results, but sometimes you just want to know the manufacturer's spec, not browse a dozen links for the same game, none of which are necessarily the factory original setup.

#4 1 year ago

Actually this is a great idea...why not expand this to be a tab on each game's Official Pinside Entry?

Add a Ring Inventory, and a Bulb Inventory. Bulbs could be how many GI of each base, and how many insert colors of each base. Flashers, too. This would be especially handy for folks looking to build an LED order. Maybe a fuse list would be good too - so folks can look at a glance and know what a particular game SHOULD have, instead of what theirs came with or a misprinted manual says.

How about it, robin ? A Service Info tab would be great!

Several games I hope to own someday; in all fairness I am using Titan's website on these. Some games have quite a bit of variability based on what people ordered but I tried to go with what looked to be the standard. I could not come up with a consistent group on several games (like White Water) from the website; guess I'll just have to own it and report back.

It's an excellent idea! Rubber rings, Lamps, Fuses, Plastics. The sky is the limit.

How can we give this legs? What needs to be done to get started? I can add a 'resources' tab for each game where we can compile this data. Big question is, do we want one single resource per game, editable by all, much like the current game details? Or should the resources tab be a list of "documents / text files" where people can each uploaded their own .txt (or pdf) files? I guess the latter would be more dynamic (and probably easier to build).

Ideas?

#17 1 year ago

Awesome!

Don't invest in adding a place for art (ballsofsteel)... but a place for notes about the art would work.

As for the layout, I like having an editable field (on each tab) that's just a blob. Many blobs with a type (rings, fuses). It would give a chance for consistency and search-ability. But someone is going to come up with a killer graphic like this:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/doctor-who-lights#post-1280789

hmm... maybe just allowing hyperlinks to other threads would be enough.

A single tab might get cluttered and rather disorganized quick. . . but if a single tab for each game (Game Details, or Game Technical Info, etc.) had several drop down tabs when moused over (rubber rings, fuses, etc.) that might be easier to navigate.

The current game details setup could work too -- just add a couple more boxes for some of these details (just like the sections for trivia, noteworthy features, etc.)

#19 1 year ago

I think adding a new tab or section (Service Notes) to each Game's Archive Page would be sufficient: with blobs and drop-downs as Faz and TractorDoc suggest. The Main sections could be Rings / Bulbs / Fuses... probably a couple others to come (boardsets perhaps?)....

As pinsiders become aware of this, the community will build, fill, and correct this resource over time.

Documentation is not a bad idea, but IPDB does a good job there and you might run into issues if folks try to upload copyrighted stuff (like GTB manuals). Still, a repository for user-created materials like FAZ's excellent DW mini-pf guide, as well as apron cards and other docs, could be valuable. Sometimes stuff like that gets easily lost in threads or redundant / multiple topics.

Just my .02...!

#20 1 year ago

I agree with adding a new tab then adding sections. Could be called Resources or something like that. For the bulb section, it would be nice to have an area for a picture of the playfield, so then numbers could be overlayed that reference a bulb chart similar to whats in the manual. That way you know exactly where each bulb type goes. Same thing for rubbers. The problem with just listing out rubber sizes/bulbs is that you may not know where they go without cross referencing something else otherwise.

I like the ability to add more things like cards or other docs.

Both places already have a databases in place that could easily handle the extra few tables this would generate.
