Has Pinside ever considered going mobile in the form of an App? I know personally it would be easier for me to access when I'm away from home, etc. Just wondered if this is a possibility... Why? Because sometimes you just need your Pinside.

...and yes I'm aware there were a few prior posts on the topic.

It's called safari or chrome. Pinside works great on those platforms.

Taptalk is what a lot of forums support. Not sure on pinside though.

Apps suck, mobile style sheet is the way to go. I believe Robin is on the same page as me there, but it does take some time/work.

I do 90% of my Pinside browsing on my cell phone and it works just fine. I have an iPhone and use Safari. I believe Robin has addressed it before that it wasnt worth the time to have an app when he also made the website optimal for mobile, but maybe he will chime in and give more info.

I think allowing to move the read count buttons to the left solved all the usability issues. I'm on here 90% with iPhone and I like how it works. Tapatalk is extremely annoying and I hate dumbed down mobile versions of sites. I wouldn't bother trying to fix a non existent problem.

If there was the ability to remove the stuff off the left side of the screen when viewing the main forums page then browsing on a mobile phone would be perfect.

    Here it is today:

Here would be my proposed mobile friendly version:

Doesn't your device have double tap to zoom so you don't even see the side stuff? I double tap and the view looks exactly like you showed. Why would anyone need to spend time coding when its that easy as is?

Double tap works fine for me. I like pinside on my iphone.

It would be awsome if pinside went responsive. Then it would work well on all platforms without the usual app-crap between mobile platforms. But that is some work ahead to make that happen. But sometime

I switched from iPhone to nexus 5 (android) recently and it was definitely working better on iPhone. Mostly the text entry boxes can get screwy if they require scrolling (defaults to some giant font that can only hold 5 lines). Loses cursor and can only recover by switching to horizontal mode which for some reason fixes it. *shrug*

I have been working on this in spare hours but it is currently not my biggest priority. It would be a mobile (alt stylesheet powered) site, optionally wrapped inside an app for push etc. But this requires lots and lots of painstaking tweaking. In fact, so much that I didn't get it past early alpha stage at this point.

    What device do you use?

    #17 7 years ago

No problem on Safari , mobile forum apps that I've tried suck.

When I open pinside on my android phone with chrome some posts are in large font and others in very small font. Anyone know how to fix it?

It works pretty well for me on iPhone, but there's a lot of pinching to zoom and panning around, so a mobile version would be very welcomed.
