    Just a quick question:-

When completing a Ratings & High Scores on pinside.com is it appropriate/acceptable to complete a Rating and or enter a High Score if you have only played the machine on a Virtual Pinball Machine and not actually played the real machine.

Please note: I have only ever completed a rating / entered a high score on actual real pinball machine I have played. I have played a lot of pinball tables on a virtual pinball machines and they are great but personally feel that they are not real pinball machines.

Just want to get others thoughts.

Imo no, virtual is nice but not the same as a real machine.

Absolutely not. Virtual games aren’t even remotely close to the real deal. They’re often far easier, since the physics are so predictable. Please only enter high scores for “in real life” games.

I'll give an example as to why virtual pinball shouldn't be used on here for ratings. I have obviously fallen off the deep end into pinball, and seek out different games to play. I was thrilled to find Williams Pinball arcade on my phone, which has some great classic games on there. I have only ever Cirque Voltaire on my phone, and its great. A few months ago I went to someone's house on a pinball trade that had the physical table and learned... there is a backbox animation. I was blissfully unaware having only played the virtual version.

    Double no on high scores.

I agree virtual pinball is definitely no the same. Just on my own principle, I would not enter a high score of a rating based upon playing a virtual pinball.

I just wanted to find out if my own thoughts were shared by other which the above is validation of what I was thinking.

I feel that when I am playing a virtal pinball on a full size machine it is 80% like playing a real pinball machine but later when I play a real pinball machine that % changes to about 50%.

Don't get me wrong virtual pinball is awsome and I will always reccomend it to anyone but just like Coca Cola " You can't beat the real thing!"

Since ratings are completely meaningless it’s irrelevant what criteria or methodology one uses to generate them.

No one needs to justify their opinions. There will still be people who disagree and hate you for posting it.

Oh yeah. Much hate here for virtual. (Hehe).

As a matter of fact, I'd support pinside going full out and having a completely separate set of forums for Virtual. It's kind of it's own thing, and has only a rough connection to an actual pinball machine.

Please do not rate actual pinball machines in the Pinside table according to your virtual experience, or enter your virtual high scores.
