Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Just bought this 1970 SG today, totally psyched, should have it in a few days.
Also I’m doing a livestream on Saturday showcasing me rocking out for 15-20 minutes. I know you all are starved for entertainment.
Not sure if I’ll do Facebook live or YouTube...what’s easier? People have to be my Facebook friends to view a live stream?
Help! I’m old![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

YouTube, I don’t have Facebook.

Quoted from WizardsCastle:

Not looking to blow a lot of money on my starter guitar. Just want something that plays well until I get to a level where I can justify dropping some money on a nice guitar.

With all this COVID-19 stuff, I definitely won't be going out to any shops or doing Kijiji deals. Also, I'm in Canada, so buying from eBay is either too expensive with shipping, or takes too long.

As I said above, used isn't really an option right now. I was looking at a few of these. I was thinking it might be best to start acoustic, but what the hell do I know?!?!
Would love to get comments on the following:

And then these seem to be acoustic and electric:

Not sure if that would be good for a beginner, but they look cool!
Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated!

It’s a bit overwhelming.

I’d strongly suggest checking out, or at least researching, a Taylor GS Mini-e.
My daughter uses hers for recording and live gigs. She’s got a couple of killer acoustics, including a Gibson Hummingbird, but when it matters (recording/live) she takes the GS Mini.
I play a Yamaha apx500 which I really like the feel of, but I defer to my daughter when it comes to anything guitar.
Good luck!

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I’m gonna do Facebook as I’ve already been shilling it there. But I’ll try to download the video and put it on YouTube within a day or so.

Sounds good. You post it and I’m definitely watching, thanks.

For most acoustic applications, the Fishman Loudbox Mini is terrific.
And cheap for just how good it is.

Hey gang!
Got 30 minutes to kill? You can see my stream here:

Sweet playing. What kind of amp are you running?
Love that O’s cap too.
Thanks for doing this.

Another block of hard and stinky rock for you...
The next one might not be live the pressure is starting to get to me!

Excellent. Still love the O’s hat.

Quoted from Guinnesstime:

USA? They're not cheaper. I have a 1994 USA Strat Plus that was $799 new with case. Those days are gone. MIM Fenders are good though. When I wanted to buy my EVH (which is Fender made) I was debating USA vs. Mexico. Someone on a forum post told me:
Well, you can buy one made in Mexico by a Mexican, or you can buy something made in the USA by someone from Mexico.

My teenage daughter plays and sings professionally at studios in Nashville and New York. Her go to guitars are her Players (Mexican) Strat and Tele. Both have been customized with her preference of pickups and tuners, but she really loves the feel of the Players. She also has the American models which she got through Adorama, courtesy of Vid’s notifications.

Quoted from Jokerman:

Current setup…trying to keep it simple. Still getting rid of old gear I just will never use.[quoted image]

May I ask, what type of stands are you using for the two guitars in the background?
Do you like them?

#852 2 years ago
Quoted from Jokerman:

Sure - I have spent far too much time in my life researching guitar stands.
Those in the background are Hercules GS414B Plus - perfectly adequate as a functional stand despite some criticism of the rubber eroding. I have never found that to be a problem though.
If aesthetics are important, these are the best imo. https://takeastandinc.com/SM_Design.html
For wall mounts, I use Bulldog.

Thanks very much.

Quoted from phil-lee:New Baby Taylor on the way for my Granddaughter. Normally prefer Martin but the Taylor has better materials.
Will be installing the 3 head K&K pure western internal pickup same as all my acoustics.
I told her Mother let her bang it around, drag it, whatever.
Thats what happens to first guitars.

Congrats.
I was surprised how much better the Taylor GS Mini was compared to the comparable offering from Martin. My daughter even plays live with hers.

Quoted from phil-lee:

Good to hear. Was a little worried having played the Martin, it sounded good for what it is. Is there a pickup in hers?

Yes, I believe it’s a Fishman, sounds very good to my ears.

Quoted from madtown:

If anyone has a line on a fender tweed deluxe reissue/ original for sale pm me.
Thanks

Used typically trade hands around $1,700-$1,800 in excellent condition. There are plenty available on reverb.
My daughter paid around $2,100 brand new.
