Quoted from StoneyCreek:

Anybody here watch Rick Beato's youtube vids? Give him a go...always picks random guitar-related stuff to talk about and he's a killer player too. He has a 2nd channel where he does long-form interviews. the one with Brian May is fantastic.

Yeah he's amazing. I like the "What makes this song great" stuff.

PRS are great guitars. Great players. Great feel. Enjoy it! I have a bunch of guitars and almost always pick up my PRS.

They are great! This is my 3rd one, 4th if you count an SE I bought, but that didn't last long. The SE was fine, there was just no reason to keep it when I already had the American version of the same guitar. I'm shocked at how poorly they hold their value for resale. This 594 was reasonably priced on Reverb for a long time and sat.

They just don’t have the “cool” factor that a Fender or Gibson have for most people. My guitar teacher plays lead guitar in a pretty notable band and generally plays Gibson’s. He said PRS was just never on his radar. He finally played one and said he it really surprised him and that it was a really great guitar to play. People just need to give them a chance.

It's just like a Harley.

It does not matter if other bikes are faster, cheaper and more reliable.

If you want trashy chicks to look at you, you got to be on a hog.

I have 10 or so early PRS 85-92 and a few later ones. Fantastic guitars. That McCarty dressed like a 59 is a no doubt a fantastic axe. Early on PRS was big on proprietary pups and hardware. So, if you wanted to drop a different set of pickups into one you needed a router to do it right. That, combined with their hybrid switching kept a lot of players away from them.

But for out of the box fit, they were not often beat.

My new guitar…its a ren era j200, made with european maple aka sycamore for the back/sides. The most incredible guitar i have played in over 40 years! If you ever get the chance to try an 88-90 gibson custom shop (ren era) maple guitar, try it!

Quoted from pinwiztom:

My wife owns a Baritone Longhorn Danelectro guitar, that she seems to think is kinda rare and collectible.
She has yet to figure out how to play it properly or to its full potential.
She is wondering if she uses a kaypo on the 5th fret and re-tunes it
she can then play it like a normal guitar.

She has decided to sell her baritone longhorn Danelectro
Contact me if interested
Price probably be ~$2000

So I bought another one...Should show up on Monday or Tuesday.

This is a 1979 Les Paul Deluxe. Original mini humbucker in the neck and full-size vintage Dimarzio Super Distortion on the bridge. Dark wine red (kind of an ox blood).

I had a 1979 les paul (custom) in high school and have always kind of been nostalgic for another one with the giant volute and boat anchor weight. This is 10 pounds 8 oz according to seller. Not sure if that's brutally heavy seems about average for a Norlin...I've heard of some at 12 pounds.

Always wanted to try a Dimarzio, and looking forward to hearing what the neck mini humbucker sounds like...they are supposed to be a little brighter which I think will sound great considering standard neck Les Paul pickups always seem a little muddy.

Running out of space. It seems a lot harder to get rid of guitars than it does pinball machines!

Never enough Les Pauls, or guitars for that matter! Here’s my 76 LPC in Wine Red w Tim Shaw pu’s and my 07 LPC in Ox Blood. The OB is quite darker. Love them both. I never understood the hate on those 70s LP’s. Congrats on the new one!

I play my '77 Les Paul Special about once every 4 times to my favorite SG. The slightly darker P-90s match great with my high gain Sunn amp.

I've been looking at 70s Deluxe models too. Would like one more LP but with humbuckers.

Put up a third hook in anticipation of the new arrival. So excited!

Got a stand for the other two guitars on the floor.

Who’s a happy guy ?!

The new deluxe rules. They all rule.

I really should sell one of them. Maybe the 93 wine red but it’s the prettiest.

My 5150 Iconic cab was finally just delivered after being back ordered for months. I’ve had the amp head since beginning of Jan.

Carvin SH675 Dragonburst Synth guitar. Has 3 outputs (coils, piezo, midi). Lots of fun hooking it up to a Roland GR-55 synth and blending the coils with organ-like patches.

Gibson Theodore based on a long lost 1957 drawing by Ted McCarty.

#1130 2 years ago

Just throwing this out there - I have a really nice 7-string, but realized pretty quickly I should limit myself to 6 strings... If anyone is looking to trade a 6-string (acoustic or electric) hit me up. The 7-string is a Schecter Banshee Extreme with black-burst quilt top, HSS pickup config with a push/pull tone pot for coil tapping the humbucker. Guitar is in very good shape - plays & sounds great. Let me know what you have - I might also consider tube amps / heads...

I can wail on a 5-string bass, can totally get around on a Baritone guitar, but I suck on a 7-string...go figure

#1132 2 years ago

Me on a 7 string:

High gain pinch harmonics on the 3rd fret, chunky power chords, more pinch harmonics. Runs out of things to play. Briefly considers learning some of Dream Theaters "A Change of Seasons". Goes back to 6 strings.

#1133 2 years ago

Finally got my first Warwick. German-made and light as a feather with a great neck.

I mean…I wanna hang too.
I doubt there’s any good reason for a bassists thread.
I guess since my studio is in the Pinbarn it’s all relative.

Cool 80s Super Strats!!!

I had a Kramer like that briefly in high school. I just didn't have the patience - nor the need - for the Floyd Rose system stuff.

Hey thanks!! I bought the neck complete with frets & inlays already done. I'll search through some emails and try to figure out who built it - I think it was from Korea or China...

#1146 2 years ago

I ordered the neck from these guys: https://www.yinfente-shop.com/electric-guitar-neck-c17706/

I am very impressed with the quality.

Ok.
I’m super excited.

Backstory.
10 year old me, dreaming of growing up to become my idols like in Twisted Sister etc, nagged my father until he bought me a guitar.
We got this guitar for fair price which I remember/believe to was $150.
Ugly as a sin to be honest. But it was the definition of glam rock.

Well it hasn’t been in my possession for a long time.
When I was about 13 I traded it with my brother for an Xbox who in turn tripped over it while drunk (hence the broken pick guard) and later gave it to our then stepbrother.
Today I reached out to said previous stepbrother who actually had saved the guitar because, in his words, “It’s your guitar”.
He wanted nothing for it and forbid me to pay anything to get it back. He even delivered it to me.
It’s just as ugly as I remember it and I’m star struck by it. It’s so magnificently bad!
I love it. I love it so much!
