Yep, made in Chicago by TJM. Circa 1978-1979. I used to live in Chicago, right near the facility that built them, and a few years ago, bought a storage unit full of those J400's - over 30. That was the deal - take all or none, so I went for it. All from a casino and had been sitting for many years. So I have them stacked up, needing cleanup and minor restoration and it seems like I'll never get to them. I moved them from Chicago to Loveland CO and there they sit.
Someday...
Quoted from pinkid:Ramegoom are you the Casper's electronics guy?? If so, cool you are into pins.
Yep. Pins, arcade, games, antiques, anything that can fill the game room with interesting stuff.
That was the car I drove to get my drivers license in 1970. I nicked the curb on the three-way turnabout, failed the first time. Grr....got some practice, then went back for the win.
Steering wheel was about the same size as a school bus wheel. Memories...
I was in high school when that car hit the dealers. My school parking lot consisted of many Mustangs (I had a 66 GT K car convertible), two or three hemi Chrysler products, a few Chevelle SS's, several Novas, one Corvette, and loads of not-so-cool cars.

The hemi's always cleaned up. Until that SS454 got modded.
Quoted from pinkid:Nice Buick. Hood ornament on a GN? There was rumor of a new GN, but I think it was abandoned.........
The car is actually a T-Type with the blackout option. That had the emblem originally.
Precision puts turbos on probably 90% of all the modified Buicks. They put some real engineering into our li'l six cylinder engines.
The Buick in the post above made over 1000 HP on a single 4 in. exhaust. It'll feed 800 HP thru a 3 in. single exhaust to the rear - with a muffler.
What people don't understand is that an opened-up exhaust can actually hurt performance. With a stock profile cam, there needs to be a certain amount of back-pressure in the exhaust. This keeps the combustible mix in the cylinder longer, instead of scavenging it out into the exhaust which happens with less back-pressure, at the top of the RPM scale.
Burning it in the exhaust increases EGT temperatures and reduces engine power.
SO
A bigger exhaust system isn't always better.
Quoted from BudManPinFan:Nice. Is that a Factory Five Racing build?
No it's actually an Everett-Morrison. I built it in 1995, it's been at a couple of Run and Gun events, road courses, run the quarter mile maybe 100 times, and has 101,000 miles on it today.
Been a fun ride so far.
Quoted from pinmister:You should bring it to Colorado Nationals-hoping to attend this year and the kids would dig it

I'll be there, likely bring it along with another car. It's walking distance from my house, so it's easy to do. Also heading to the Blue Light Special car show, same place, in August.
Quoted from PlanetExpress:Mini says 8 more years before they are fully electric
PlanetExpress, you're right near London OH? That's where all of the Cobras get together every June for the "London Cobra Show". Been doing that for years.
Have you been there?
Quoted from PlanetExpress:I’m a relative new comer to OH, so I’d never heard of this… Thanks, I’m 100% going next year!
You definitely need to go. It's the second week in June and at least 100 Cobras show up for it. Look for "London Cobra Burnouts" on YouTube - the attraction is that you can take your car and run right down the middle of downtown at WOT with a passenger. It's the only town in the US that does that.
Lots of videos relating to the London Cobra Show sponsored by the Ohio Cobra Club. I've been going to that show since 2001.
Here's a walk-thru video I put online back in 2011. The cars stage at the TA gas station off of I70. Then the cars are paraded through town by police escort to downtown London.
Quoted from Darcy:Just curious, what is the round thingy to left of the clock? Interesting shifter looks like a manual, but your photos do not show a clutch pedal. Nice looking car by the way.
Originally it was manual 3 speed with a six. It's now a 350 Olds with a TH400 automatic. That stick from 1937 is now the automatic shifter handle.
Left of the clock is an ash tray.
And the gauges are now custom Speed Hut with a GPS based speedometer, fitted to the original bezels. Originally this car had a 6 volt positive ground system, so everything had to be modified to work with the current 12 volt negative ground system.
Fun project. Even the rear end is an 8 in. Ford.
Quoted from littlecammi:... sad to see a rich guy buy and bring a car he did no work on himself and win over some very nice cars that other owners spent many hours building and making show worthy.

Welcome to the inequities of car show judging....
And if it's "popular vote" it's even worse. The pink Cadillac would win the prize because kids (who vote) like pink cars.
