It’s time to part ways with my ‘73 Javelin, after more than 20yrs. Figured I’d post it here first, since the funds will likely go to pinball anyway. Hit me up if you have any trades on my wishlist.

It’s now a project car, due to the small rust in the fenders and rear quarters, but is a good runner in original paint and way better than “barn find”. Engine and trans are not original, but it’s the correct 360 and 727 combo. Tons of upgrades: BeCool aluminum rad, MSD, Mallory UniLite, Edelbrock carb and intake, Hella lights, Hooker headers (not installed), etc…

Quoted from thetylander:

I am 5’11” and getting in or out is like watching a baby horse being born.

I’m 6’3” and drive a Mini Cooper… I am totally stealing this line.

Quoted from Roostking:

GLWTS, but unless the pics lie, that is not a project car! A bit if rust here or there is one thing, but projects are like fender replacement, floor boards rusting though, frame rails shot, interior needing replaced. You have a nice driver that just needs a little work!

Thanks, I guess I just don’t want anyone thinking they can just pick it up as a daily driver…

It’s a nice survivor example with no filler and original paint… Pretty rare for any muscle car, and even more rare for an AMC.

Here’s a clip of how it sounds:

Quoted from bob_e:

And now you can replace it with a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 707 HP Hellcat motor for when you need the Ice Cream not to melt on the way home

Carry a spoon in the glove box, that way you can eat the ice cream while waiting for the tow truck. The engine is fantastic and the transmission is the best automatic ever (ZF 8HP), but the Jeep bits are still Jeep.

98% of all Jeeps ever made are still on the road today.

The other 2% made it home.

Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

I hear this a lot but I have to say, my Durango (yes, not a "Jeep" but the same thing basically) has been great. I got it used with 24K on it. It has 90K on it now. The only thing I had an issue with was a hole in the radiator that was fixed quickly under warranty. And let me tell you, I do NOT baby this thing. It's a great size, runs very well, and I beat the crap out of it and it just keeps coming back for more. I have a lowly R/T with the 5.7 but I love the thing.
Chris

If you normalize the data, Jeep has about 4x the lemon law buy backs of Dodge, which places it just above Alfa and Fiat in reliability. Honestly, I wonder if Jeep’s poor reliability reputation is related to it also likely being the most modified vehicle. If 10% of RAV4 buyers added a light bar and body lift, maybe Toyota would have a poor rep, too.

Quoted from pinmister:

So after much anticipation-the air was let out of my bags and I was left deflated ):
Subaru decided to eliminate the new STI model for the time being because of environmental concerns. So many manufacturers pushing for the green approach and ditching the gas for electric ,etc.
-Now the talk of an electric STI? (seriously)
I still am going to go test drive the new platform just to see how it handles but I now have another vehicle on my radar...The new GR Toyota Corolla with turbo. Looks like a car that will be a blast to drive! (Toyota made a huge mistake by not adding a manual to the Supra) Also they said they are limiting production to just one year-sounds like it will become an instant collector car. I don't know what it is-but I love cars with a stick shift and turbo. Sports cars without a stick shift and turbo tend to have no soul for me.

Mini says 8 more years before they are fully electric, and had to drop manuals from production due to supply chain issues. Our order for a manual transmission convertible was likely one of the last made (we’re supposed to take delivery next week).

PlanetExpress, you're right near London OH? That's where all of the Cobras get together every June for the "London Cobra Show". Been doing that for years.
Have you been there?
[quoted image]

I’m a relative new comer to OH, so I’d never heard of this… Thanks, I’m 100% going next year!

In a weird coincidence, my dad’s cousin took a road track record from a factory team Cobra with a Mini Cooper back in the late 60’s. Not having any long straights gave the Mini an advantage.

Quoted from jsyjay:

New project has arrived!
Classic Mini Clubman Estate with only 24k miles.
Picked this up from a guy who bought this when he was 16, worked on it for a few years before moving away when he was 19 and it's been sat in his dads garage for the last 10+ years.
I'm up to three Mini's now, thank god for my very understanding wife!
Picture of what I'm hoping it will look like at the end.

Awesome project! More importantly…. Does it fit a pin?
